Marie is currently a junior at Chaparral High School with a strong appreciation for math, always eager to challenge herself in problem-solving and logical thinking. She enjoys applying her math skills in various areas of her academic and personal life, and she’s excited to help others strengthen their math abilities. In addition to her academic interests, Marie plays the flute and piccolo in her school’s wind ensemble.
In her free time, Marie enjoys hiking, climbing, and immersing herself in nature. She also loves making art and listening to music, combining her creative and logical sides. With her passion for both math and the arts, she brings a unique perspective to her work and is excited to assist students in their math journey.
Chris studied neuroscience at MIT and Boston University, where he developed a strong interest in math and statistics through his research in pediatrics. Originally from Chicago, IL, he brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to helping students understand mathematical concepts with clarity and confidence.
Outside of academics, Chris enjoys listening to music, playing guitar, and—most of all—spending time with his dog, Vera. He’s excited to support students as they build their problem-solving skills and grow their love for learning.
Kawai is a senior at Chaparral High School who loves both teaching and learning math. He enjoys tackling new concepts, working through challenging problems, and helping students gain confidence as they grow in their skills.
In his free time, Kawai enjoys spending time with friends and volunteering with different organizations. He is excited to help students excel in math and appreciates how math connects to so many aspects of life.
Gabe was born in Ethiopia and moved to Phoenix at just one year old. He is a junior at Sunnyslope High School with a wide range of interests and talents. A distance runner since the age of six, Gabe has even completed a marathon!
Gabe enjoys math—especially calculus—and loves challenging himself through competitive chess. He also plays piano and sings. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family, watching professional football, basketball, and track & field, and listening to music ranging from rap and R&B to classic funk. Fun fact: Gabe can juggle!
