To All of Our Teachers, Thank You!

“Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges.”
-Joyce Meyer

This year, Teacher Appreciation Week is being celebrated from Monday, May 6th - Friday, May 10th. We work alongside our students’ teachers throughout the year to fill in gaps and provide support - and we couldn’t be more appreciative of their efforts. Let’s shower our teachers with all of the appreciation they can stand!

3 Small Ways to Show Your Appreciation

Write a Thank You Card or Letter to Your Child’s Favorite Teacher
This is a great activity for you and your child! Use our template or one of the thousands available online to create a Thank You Card and let your teacher know they’re appreciated. You might even consider reaching out to past teachers through email or Facebook!

Tell Stories About Your Favorite Teacher
Hold a family story time and talk about your time in school - and the teachers who helped you succeed! Your kids will love to learn more about your childhood, and this can be a great bonding opportunity.

Students can also ask Mathnasium staff about their favorite teachers this week (or any week, we love to talk about them!) during their visits. We’ve shared a couple down below as well! ⬇️

""Let me tell you about my favorite teacher of all time, Mr. Michael ""Mike"" Wachowski. Yes, you heard that right, he shares his name with the lovable character from Monsters, Inc., and trust me, he's just as unforgettable.

Mr. Wachowski was my Networking and Advanced Cybersecurity teacher during my sophomore and junior years of high school. Walking into his class felt like stepping into a whole new world. Sure, he had a quirky sense of humor and a knack for making even the most complex topics seem approachable, but what truly set him apart was his unwavering dedication to his students.

O

ne of the things I admire most about Mr. Wachowski is the countless opportunities he opened up for us. He wasn't just there to teach us the curriculum; he went above and beyond to help us grow as individuals. Thanks to him, I racked up over 200 volunteer hours, something I never thought possible. With Those experiences, it sparked a fire in me and solidified my interest in pursuing a career in cybersecurity.

And let's not forget about the free pizzas monthly. Every month, like clockwork, Mr. Wachowski would treat us to pizza during class. It wasn't just about the food; it was about creating a sense of camaraderie and making learning fun.

Even though Mr. Wachowski eventually moved on to a higher position and no longer teaches, his impact lives on in every student he taught. The concepts and lessons he instilled in us have stayed with me throughout college and beyond. He may be gone from the classroom, but he will never be forgotten.

So here's to you, Mr. Wachowski, the teacher who not only taught us about networks and cybersecurity but also about the importance of kindness, dedication, and believing in ourselves. You truly are one of a kind.""

"My favorite teacher is definitely Mr. Suhling, my high school band teacher. My band classes were always a ton of fun and are some of my favorite memories of that time period. He was tough on us and pushed us to play each piece the best we could, but also knew when to relax and crack a few jokes to keep the atmosphere from being too intense. His attitude and leadership is what I think of when I think about the type of leader I want to be."

"One of my favorite teachers ever was my 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher Mr. Liuzzi. He alway kept his classroom fun and engaging and was a teacher I was never scared to ask for help. He helped us on an individual level and understood any situation that caused trouble. He was the teacher that made a subject I disliked into one that keeps my brain ticking."
