Sonya holds multiple associate degrees in Office Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, earned in 2019. Her passion for math started early, leading to a 15-year role as the lead tutor in the S.T.E.M. department at the college where she earned her first degree. She’s thrilled to bring her skills and lifelong enthusiasm for math to Mathnasium.
Sonya loves showing students how math can be fun and empowering. Outside of work, she’s an adventurer who enjoys learning languages—she speaks French, Spanish, and some German. She also enjoys gaming, movies, cooking, and exploring new interests.
Ben began his journey in education while volunteering with marine animals at the Indianapolis Zoo—especially walruses, his all-time favorite! His role there sparked a love for sharing knowledge, which led him to broader opportunities in educational leadership.
At Mathnasium, Ben values the ability to see student growth firsthand and appreciates how math success builds confidence. When he’s not supporting learning centers, you can find him outdoors, exploring new places, or playing guitar (though he admits he’s still learning!).
Jeff holds an Economics degree from James Madison University and later earned a Master’s in Education from George Mason University. He taught math at both the high school and college level for a decade before stepping into leadership roles in national restaurant brands.
Now back to his roots in education, Jeff brings passion and experience to his work at Mathnasium. He enjoys helping students find success in math while leading a team committed to excellence. In his free time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife of 28 years, their two dogs, and visiting their three grown children.
James discovered his love for math during middle and high school and pursued it further at the University of Virginia, graduating in 2000 with a degree in Mathematics. He went on to serve seven years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft maintenance officer, where he began tutoring homeschooled children and saw firsthand the challenges students face with math.
Inspired by those experiences, James returned to UVA to earn his MBA from the Darden School of Business. Today, he combines his leadership background and passion for problem-solving to help students build confidence and overcome math anxiety through Mathnasium.
Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
