Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Shadnaz Bordbar

Shadnaz is a student at UCLA. She is planning to attend medical school. Her mom is a high school math teacher who has always taught Shadnaz how to see the fun in math and its connection to the world around us. Shadnaz enjoys math and believes that it will make much more sense if you enjoy it too. Outside of math, her two other favorite things to do are exploring new places and creating music on her piano.

Noah Lervaag

Noah is a nursing student at the University of Nevada, Reno. After an initial difficulty with math at a young age, he developed an interest and appreciation after seeing its applications. Having taken and excelled in courses up through Calculus II, he now seeks to aid others in discovering their own skills and love of math. Outside of math, Noah enjoys competitive ballroom, cooking, traveling, and hiking.

Alyssa Crabbe

Alyssa is studying biology at Diablo Valley College with hopes to transfer to UC as an ecology student. Through the help and guidance of good math teachers at DVC, she was able to excel in her math classes both in terms of grades and overall comprehension of the subject. This allowed her to help her classmates and peers with their math-related questions, sparking an interest in becoming a math tutor. Outside of math, she enjoys watching tv/movies, soccer, and traveling.

Fiona Kurniawan

Fiona, is currently a student at Diablo Valley College pursuing her passion for chemistry with plans to transfer to UC as a chemistry major. With a solid foundation in math nurtured by her mom and teacher, Fiona knows that understanding math can be fun and enjoyable. She believes that once students grasp the underlying concepts, math becomes more accessible and enjoyable, rather than a chore. In her free time, Fiona indulges in her love for reading and music.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
