Q: What is the first thing a new student would do upon entering Mathnasium?
A: First, a new or prospective student will be given an overview of our center, an introduction to some of our instructors, and an explanation of our rewards system. After a small chat with our center director, the student is given a comprehensive assessment to analyze their strengths and weaknesses in math. Then, before leaving, they get a chance to spin our prize wheel to earn even more stars towards their rewards!
Q: What does the first session look like for new students?
A: For a student coming to the center for their first session, they would be given their very own binder with their own, personalized curriculum based around their needs and goals. Then, they would be seated with a certified Mathnasium instructor who will be there to teach them for the entire session. After they've earned enough stars to fill up their first card, they would be shown our amazing rewards cabinets filled with snacks, toys, gift cards, and so much more!
Q: Have you seen a student’s attitude towards math change?
A: It's incredible to see that "light bulb" moment when a student finally masters a concept. We've seen it too many times to count! For example, when we teach a student that the word percent actually means "for each hundred," it makes figuring out percentages of numbers so simple!
Q: What do you wish students and parents knew before they brought their student to your center?
A: Math is a marathon, not a sprint. There is no shortcut to figuring it out all at once. It takes time, effort, and consistency. And never forget: being not-so-good at something is the first step to being great at that thing!
