Christian brings over 17 years of experience in math and business education. He began his Mathnasium journey as an instructor in 2008 while earning his degrees in applied mathematics and economics at UC Berkeley. He later completed his Ph.D. at UCLA as a National Science Foundation Fellow.
Christian is passionate about helping every child build confidence and a love for math. He especially enjoys seeing the moment a student lights up with a math “aha!” moment. He lives with his wife and two young daughters.
Arlene is a proud full-time mom with over 12 years of experience in brand strategy and campaign development across Southeast Asia. Her professional background includes launching over 100 successful marketing campaigns at companies like L’Oreal and Mondelez International, where she was also recognized for cultivating a positive work culture.
At Mathnasium, Arlene blends her corporate experience with a deep commitment to supporting families. She is excited to strengthen relationships with parents, instructors, and the community while helping students grow through their math journey.
Mike holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in History from Michigan State University, with a minor in mathematics. After earning his teaching certification, he taught high school math in Michigan and Illinois. Since 2018, Mike has brought his passion for education to Mathnasium in a variety of roles.
He enjoys inspiring students to reach their potential in math and especially loves working in a setting that allows for individualized learning. In his free time, Mike enjoys reading science fiction, watching classic films, and reflecting on his childhood memory of witnessing the Apollo 8 launch.
Russ has loved math since high school and holds an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Virginia. He worked as a scientific application programmer at the Naval Air Test Center and later spent over 30 years at OCLC, where he was affectionately known as “the numbers man.”
After retirement, Russ continued tutoring students in his community and now brings his expertise and enthusiasm to Mathnasium. He values the structured curriculum and enjoys helping students thrive. Russ is also passionate about music and is proud of his family’s musical accomplishments.
