Last week ACT released their annual report of the 2022 ACT-tested graduating class. The national average composite score was 19.8 out of 36 which was lower compared to last year's 20.3, and for the first time since 1991 the score came under 20. COVID-19 might seem to be in the rear-view mirrow but the learning disruptions are still having an effect on students. How does Florida complare to the national average - average composite score was 19, below the national average, and math was the lowest of the 4 areas tested at 18.4, and the highest score was for reading - 20. ACT test results offer a glimpse into the readiness of high school graduates to take on college level learning. 42% of all students that took the test this year met none of the 4 ACT College Readiness Benchmarks and only 22% met all 4. Full details of the report you can find here

At Mathnasium we recognize that students have gaps in their math knowledge. Regardless of grade level, including SAT/ACT prep, we always start a student with an assessment and create a learning plan to address those gaps. In light of the ACT report more than ever it is important that students start preparing earlier to take SAT/ACT and take advantage of our full program which lasts at least 4 months. Time is spent reviewing math concepts that students struggled with during the intial assessment and also complete practice tests. We want students to complete as many practice tests as possible and that requires time. There are 2 more dates in the 2022-23 school year to take the ACT test - Dec 10th, and Feb 11th. Link to registration is here The following dates for SAT are open for registration - Dec 3rd, March 11th, May 6th, June 3rd.
