Q: How do you know what kind of math students in your center/re need to be taught?
A: When a new student comes to Mathnasium for the first time, we perform a comprehensive assessment with them. This allows us to understand what math skills the students already have mastered and what skills they may need assistance with. We use the assessment to guide the creation of their individualized learning plan that we use to instruct during their sessions.
Q: Why do students need to take tests?
A: Tests are important for gauging if a student has an independent mastery of a topic or not. It is important that a student can prove that they understand a skill and are able to apply it without the aid of an instructor, since it builds the student's confidence and sets them up for success in learning future skills.
Q: Can Mathnasium help students prepare for their tests in math class?
A: We can absolutely help students prepare for their tests in math class. We have assisted many students in building up critical skills needed for their tests in order to get a higher grade on not just their next test, but also their tests in the future months and even years!
Q: What about College Placement Tests?
A: We can assist with College Placement Tests as well! We can give specific instruction on the skills needed to pass particular placement tests. Just recently, we helped a student named Patrick prepare for his trigonometry placement test for college. He passed and will be attending UCF this year!
