Mya Aun is a lifelong learner with a deep-rooted love for quantitative reasoning who is passionate about advocating for STEAM education. Her academic path is anything but ordinary: she holds a B.S. in Mathematics summa cum laude from UNC Charlotte, a B.G.S. from the University of Michigan with emphases in Microbiology, Statistics, and Chemical Engineering, and an A.F.A. in Visual Arts from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. This diverse blend of analytical rigor and creative insight fuels her mission: to make math meaningful and even fun for every student. Currently pursuing an online M.S. in Engineering Education from NC State University, Mya is driven by the belief that effective learning bridges research and real-world relevance. Her graduate work focuses on transforming how students experience math—not as a set of abstract rules, but as a powerful language for modeling the world.
Before launching her own Mathnasium Learning Center in Rock Hill, Mya experienced the transformative power of the Mathnasium Method firsthand as an Instructor. Now, as Center Director, she leads with empathy and expertise, crafting individualized learning plans that go far beyond memorization. Her goal is to build confident and curious problem-solvers who do not just succeed in math—they thrive.
Whether helping students gain numerical fluency or guiding them to excel on exams like the SAT/ACT, Mya ensures every child is equipped with both the tools and the mindset to tackle challenges with clarity and creativity. For her, the greatest reward is seeing a student's eyes light up in that “aha” moment—a spark that reflects understanding, confidence, and the joy of learning. At Mathnasium of Rock Hill, Mya is proud to lead a team dedicated to making math make sense—one child, one breakthrough, one moment at a time.
