Matthew graduated from Bayside High School and is currently a student at Stony Brook University. He discovered his love for math in elementary school. During that time he found himself to be advanced in the subject and wanted to help his fellow classmates succeed. This led to his desire to tutor and help as many people as he possibly could. Matthew is ecstatic to be part of the Mathnasium team and plans to share all his knowledge with the terrific students as well as inspire them to do their best!

Ken S.

Lionel R.

Instructor
Lionel is a retired educator who has spent approximately three decades teaching mathematics in High School and a few years as an adjunct professor in college. His decision to work at Mathnasium relies heavily upon the acknowledgement of its innovative approaches, pedagogies, and commitments to help students succeed in math. With his natural affinity for mathematics, he has embraced the instructor role without any hesitation in order to continue inspiring and assisting students to acquire requisite mathematical language skills that will allow them to understand and navigate through the modern and technological world in which we all live.

Chris G.

Instructor
Chris is currently attending CUNY Queens College, pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Math Education for grades 7-12. Accepted into the prestigious TIME 2000 program due to exceptional performance in math classes, Chris has always needed to understand what they were learning instead of just being told what to do. This aligns perfectly with Mathnasium's philosophy, which emphasizes teaching for understanding and comprehension over mere memorization.

Shams S.

Instructor
Shams is currently pursuing a BS in Biology at Stony Brook University. Since elementary school, she's had a strong passion for math, which has grown over the years. Seeing students succeed and grow confidently makes Shams happy and motivates her to continue teaching.

Rajesh A.

Instructor
Rajesh is a newcomer to the United States having recently migrated from Mumbai, India where he had been tutoring students in Math for the past 20 years. Raj loves teaching at Mathnasium due to our unique approach of teaching math to children. The vibrant environment and the unique teaching techniques makes learning fun for the children and nothing is more rewarding for a teacher than to see a smile on the face of a child when he or she grasps the concepts and wants to excel in their performance. We are honored to have him as a part of our Mathnasium team.

Priom I.

Instructor

Priom comes from a diverse background in both government and corporate America. He graduated with a double major in Mathematics and Political Science and worked in the New York City government for several years. He originally served two consecutive terms of AmeriCorps before transitioning to a program coordinator for lower-income CUNY college students. He went on to pursue a Master's degree in finance and pivoted to the private sector, working as a financial analyst at a multinational consulting company. Priom learned a lot from working in both the private and public sector, but he always maintained math tutoring as a way to earn additional income, and realized that tutoring was his main passion. He is now pursuing math tutoring at Mathnasium and hopes to instill his love for the subject into his students.

Lauren T.

Instructor

Lauren graduated with a bachelor's degree in statistics from Adelphi University and is now currently pursuing a master’s degree in business analytics. She believes that math is everywhere in our daily lives and wants to help students see its importance. Justin F.

Instructor

Justin is currently attending Stony Brook University, pursuing a major in Chemical and Molecular Engineering. From a young age, Justin was always interested in learning how things worked, whether it be tinkering with computers or testing science experiments at home. He rediscovered his love for math and science in high school, volunteering to tutor his classmates and help them develop a deeper understanding of the topics he was passionate about. At Mathnasium, he seeks new opportunities to apply his skills and teach students the ‘how’ and the ‘why’, instead of just memorizing the ‘what’.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
