Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Cheryl K.

Assistant Center Director
Cheryl is a 34-year veteran middle school math teacher and has been with Mathnasium of Roslyn since its opening in 2011. She is excited to be a part of the Mathnasium staff so that she can continue to use her great variety of skills to help students catch up, accelerate and/or learn to love mathematics. She excels at diagnosing students' needs and finding exciting ways to demonstrate a principle. Her exuberant personality makes it easy for students to relax and enjoy their learning experience.

Freddie B.

Senior Instructor
Freddie has been working at Mathnasium since May 2013 and has been known to say that he "would work here until 2031." He graduated with a Psychology degree from Queens College and is currently on track to do his post-graduate work in Education (a field he fell in love with after tutoring his classmates in math as an undergraduate). His motivation to help students has manifested itself in inventing tools for learning difficult concepts, as well as puzzles and games for everyone. Freddie was a finalist of the 2018 Mathnasium Instructor of the Year competition.

Suneet J.

Lead Instructor
With a Master’s in Math Education from Columbia University, Suneet started his journey as an educator by tutoring math in his college. After graduating with a BS in Engineering, he joined Democracy Prep High School in Manhattan as a Math Teacher, and Herricks High School as a Student Teacher. Throughout this time, Suneet continued to work as a Lead Instructor at Mathnasium of Roslyn. He has tremendous confidence in the Mathnasium Method and has steered over three hundred students to excel in math. With 10 years of cumulative professional and educational experience in teaching math to a wide age group of students, Suneet firmly believes that every child can succeed in math if taught the right way.

Megha S.

Instructor
Math was Megha's favorite subject growing up and she has been teaching kids math since she was in high school. She believes any student can develop their math skills with engaging guidance and consistent practice. As a current medical student at The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, she likes learning about the applications of math in the real world, especially in the sciences and healthcare. She is grateful to be a part of the Mathnasium team and hopes her enthusiasm for math motivates students to reach their full potential.

Matthew L.

Instructor
Matthew graduated from Bayside High School and is currently a student at Stony Brook University. He discovered his love for math in elementary school. During that time he found himself to be advanced in the subject and wanted to help his fellow classmates succeed. This led to his desire to tutor and help as many people as he possibly could. Matthew is ecstatic to be part of the Mathnasium team and plans to share all his knowledge with the terrific students as well as inspire them to do their best!

Ken S.

Instructor
Ken graduated from Queens High School for the Sciences at York College is currently a student at New York University, where he plans to pursue a degree in child and adolescent psychology. Growing up, Ken had always enjoyed math, with his favorite subject being statistics. However, he understands that not every student echoes that same sentiment. He hopes to encourage his students to approach math with an open mind, and he is proud to be a member of the Mathnasium team!

Joy D.

Instructor
Joy is a graduate student at Touro University, where she is studying physical therapy. Joy has always excelled at math, even having been a part of the Ardsley Mathnasium team before she moved to Long Island. Joy believes math is important in everyday life and wants to work with kids one day, which is why she is excited to be part of the Roslyn Mathnasium team.

Lionel R.

Instructor
Lionel is a retired educator who has spent approximately three decades teaching mathematics in High School and a few years as an adjunct professor in college. He has received a BS in Mathematics and was awarded an MA in Secondary Mathematics at Adelphi University. His decision to work at Mathnasium relies heavily upon the acknowledgement of its innovative approaches, pedagogies, and commitments to help students succeed in math. With his natural affinity for mathematics, he has embraced the instructor role without any hesitation in order to continue inspiring and assisting students to acquire requisite mathematical language skills that will allow them to understand and navigate through the modern and technological world in which we all live.

Matthew A.

Instructor
Matthew is a senior at Cornell University majoring in Science and Technology studies. Matthew has always considered math his favorite subject; in high school he did math research and won a silver medal at the Al Kalfus Math Fair. Matthew loves sports, particularly the analytics side. He firmly believes that Moneyball is the greatest baseball movie of all time (with Major League as a close second).

Abby W.

Instructor
Abby graduated from Mineola High School in 2022 with Summa Cum Laude and a Mastery in Mathematics. She is currently a student at LIU Post majoring in Mathematics. From an early age she has always had a strong interest in math and was always looking for a challenge. At Mathnasium she strives for students to take up an interest in math and succeed with whatever comes their way.

Chris G.

Instructor
Chris is currently attending CUNY Queens College, pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Math Education for grades 7-12. Accepted into the prestigious TIME 2000 program due to exceptional performance in math classes, Chris has always needed to understand what they were learning instead of just being told what to do. This aligns perfectly with Mathnasium's philosophy, which emphasizes teaching for understanding and comprehension over mere memorization.

Shams S.

Instructor
Shams is currently pursuing a BS in Biology at Stony Brook University. Since elementary school, she's had a strong passion for math, which has grown over the years. She loves how math can unlock problem-solving skills and logical thinking. Teaching at Mathnasium allows her to share this passion with students and enriches her skills as she help others learn. Seeing students succeed and grow confidently makes Shams happy and motivates her to continue teaching.

Rajesh A.

Instructor
Rajesh is a newcomer to the United States having recently migrated from Mumbai, India where he had been tutoring students in Math for the past 20 years. Raj loves teaching at Mathnasium due to our unique approach of teaching math to children. The vibrant environment and the unique teaching techniques makes learning fun for the children and nothing is more rewarding for a teacher than to see a smile on the face of a child when he or she grasps the concepts and wants to excel in their performance. We are honored to have him as a part of our Mathnasium team.

Priom I.

Instructor

Priom comes from a diverse background in both government and corporate America. He graduated with a double major in Mathematics and Political Science and worked in the New York City government for several years. He originally served two consecutive terms of AmeriCorps before transitioning to a program coordinator for lower-income CUNY college students. He went on to pursue a Master's degree in finance and pivoted to the private sector, working as a financial analyst at a multinational consulting company. Priom learned a lot from working in both the private and public sector, but he always maintained math tutoring as a way to earn additional income, and realized that tutoring was his main passion. He is now pursuing math tutoring at Mathnasium and hopes to instill his love for the subject into his students.

Lauren T.

Instructor

Lauren graduated with a bachelor's degree in statistics from Adelphi University and is now currently pursuing a master’s degree in business analytics. She believes that math is everywhere in our daily lives and wants to help students see its importance. By being a part of the Mathnasium team and making math relevant and fun, she aims to foster a love for learning and build confidence in students, ensuring they not only succeed academically but also appreciate the role math plays in the world around them.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
