Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Allyson Slutak

Instructor

Allyson spent twenty years in Corporate Compliance before transitioning into education when her company downsized in 2012. She began teaching as a substitute and later earned her Master’s in Education from St. John’s University in 2017. Currently, Allyson teaches at a Yeshiva in Queens, New York, and enjoys helping students improve their math skills at Mathnasium.

When she’s not teaching, Allyson enjoys crafting, traveling, and relaxing with a good book. She has rafted Class 4 and 5 rapids in California and competed in the Women’s National Bowling Tournament. Her motto: “Fractions are our friends!”

Colin Loughran

Instructor

Colin is currently pursuing a B.A. in Journalism at Fordham University. As a former Mathnasium student himself, he developed a strong love for statistics, equations, and problem-solving. Now, he enjoys giving back by helping students build the same confidence he once gained through Mathnasium.

In his free time, Colin enjoys watching sports, listening to hip-hop music, and rewatching classic sitcoms. His goal as an instructor is to help every student realize that math is not something to fear, but a language they can master and even enjoy.

Claress Bahamundi

Instructor

Claress is an honors student at Swarthmore College, where she is pursuing a B.A. in Psychology and Education Policy. Having attended Mathnasium as a student, she values the program’s individualized approach and loves teaching Algebra and Calculus to new learners.

Claress is passionate about helping students discover their potential and build confidence through understanding. Outside of Mathnasium, she enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring new restaurants. She hopes to use her experience in education policy to help improve access to quality learning for all students.

Richard Foran

Instructor

Richard holds an MBA in Risk Management from St. John’s University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Manhattan College. He enjoys working with young learners and helping them see how math applies to the real world. His calm, patient approach encourages students to think critically and build confidence with every lesson.

In his free time, Richard enjoys playing tennis, practicing yoga, and scuba diving. He is also a volunteer firefighter and brings the same dedication and teamwork from that role to his work at Mathnasium.
