Jon-Erik

Instructor
Jon-Erik was born in Long Beach and grew up in Orange County. He graduated from Savanna High School. After serving in the Navy, he attended Cypress College and transferred to the University of Arizona earned his degree in Mathematics. He has a true passion for math and helping the youth. Mathnasium is the perfect place for his passions. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and cheering for his favorite sports teams.

Travis

Instructor
Travis is currently pursuing a degree in math education at the University of California, Irvine. He enjoys teaching math to kids in a way that makes sense to them. When he's not working with students at Mathnasium, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and learning how to master puzzles and games of all sorts. This summer, he will be doing a teaching fellowship abroad in Ireland.

Sofia

Instructor
Sofia was born and raised in Long Beach and graduated from Renaissance High School for the Arts. She is studying Mathematics at Long Beach City College. She loves math and helping people have that “aha” moment. She is planning to teach math after finishing school. In her free time, she sings or enjoys reading fantasy or sci-fi books.

Michael Tomac

Owner
Michael has a B.S. degree in Business/Marketing from Arizona State University. He brings over 25 years’ corporate leadership experience with Fortune 500 companies coaching, teaching, and developing employees to become the best version of themselves. His passion for learning, personal development, and mentoring led him to Mathnasium and the desire to help students reach their potential, gain self-confidence, and have fun along the way! Michael brings this passion for making a difference to students within the Seal Beach, Belmont Shore, and Long Beach and surrounding communities. He believes that through the Mathnasium Method, students will develop strong math foundations, understand difficult concepts, and master problem-solving. As a parent of 2 school-age students, Michael realizes the need for more individualized attention and targeted instruction in math. His vision is to ensure that students have an effective, engaging, and encouraging learning experience that cultivates an intuitive understanding of math.
