Summer Math Loss?!! In Ventura County?!

Summer Math Loss?!! In Ventura County?!

Summer is a time for vacations, camps, beach days, and family fun. Even in the beautiful Ventura County, however, time off from school can also lead to the "summer slide” …and not the fun kind…

Summer math loss happens when students don't practice math for several weeks or months. -I mean, who wouldn’t need some reminders on multi-step equations, long division, or even basic facts after three months off??- Math can become even more frustrating for students when they have not been practicing consistently over the summer (fair enough!).

Signs to look out for as the new school year begins:

• Forgetting addition/subtraction facts

• Forgetting multiplication/division facts

• Difficulty with fractions

• Trouble solving word problems

• Lack of confidence

How Mathnasium of Simi Hills can help:

• Reviews key concepts in-depth for students who need a ‘refresh’

• Personalized learning plans

• Keeps students engaged without feeling like MORE school

• Helps students retain skills and build confidence

• Prepares students for new math concepts throughout the school year

**Even if your child is not experiencing the effects of summer math loss, Mathnasium of Simi Hills can STILL challenge your child as the school year progresses and they continue to grow in math!

“I started at Mathnasium of Simi Hills last year because [my child] needed some basic review after summer break. Once he was caught up, however, we stayed with Mathnasium because of the immense growth he was continuing to make. I have never seen [my child] more confident in math thanks to the high-quality tutors at Mathnasium of Simi Hills!” -parent
