Karissa is a junior at the University of Sioux Falls majoring in elementary education with a minor in mathematics. Originally from Little Rock, Iowa, she joined Mathnasium to combine her love of teaching and her passion for math. She enjoys watching students grow, especially when they surprise her with jokes and riddles.
Outside of work and school, Karissa loves painting, boating, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. She also has two dogs, a fish named Jake, and dreams of becoming a full-time teacher after graduation.
Keagan is a senior at Roosevelt High School and plans to attend Colorado State University to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. A lover of animals and math, Keagan finds joy in seeing students succeed each day at Mathnasium.
When not working, Keagan enjoys playing trombone, spending time at the lake, and hanging out with friends and family. With four dogs and five outdoor cats at home, Keagan knows a thing or two about being busy.
Laine is a student at Lincoln High School involved in many activities, including marching band, track, and co-founding the school's knitting club. She enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with her dog.
Her favorite part of Mathnasium is the rewarding moment when students understand a concept they've been working on. Laine appreciates being part of a team where both students and instructors make learning fun.
Lauren is a student at O'Gorman High School who loves math and enjoys being both a student and an instructor at Mathnasium. She has four brothers and a dog, and enjoys music, running, reading, and time with friends.
Lauren values the connections she makes with students, especially while helping them work through difficult problems. She finds joy in their stories and successes and believes in the power of learning through positive interactions.
Mike brings a unique background as a former geodesist in the U.S. Air Force and an experienced artist. He holds degrees in mathematics, art history, and fine arts, as well as a master’s in geodesy.
When he's not teaching, Mike enjoys hiking, biking, painting, and traveling with his wife. He finds great satisfaction in helping students go from struggling with math to building confidence and becoming proficient problem solvers.
