Lauren Shirkey, a native of Charlotte, NC, has a strong educational background. After completing her high school education, she pursued her studies at Gardner-Webb University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2012. Following her graduation, Lauren embarked on a fulfilling career in many different school settings such as a child development center, public school, and then private school. In her time in the classroom, she was able to teach multiple grade levels, from toddlers to high school seniors. Lauren was promoted to the role of Academic Interventionist the last three years she was in a school setting. It was this position that encouraged Lauren to pursue her passion of engaging, supporting, and encouraging students outside the classroom. She is excited to bring her knowledge, enthusiasm, and experience to Mathnasium where she can empower our instructors and students alike.
In her free time Lauren enjoys reading, spending time with her cats and corgi, attending trivia nights with friends, and vacationing to the beach any chance she gets.
EBrandon Hawkins, who goes by Brandon, is a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, where he earned his degree in Elementary Education. His professional journey has provided him with a diverse background in education, leadership, and operations.
Brandon spent three years as a classroom teacher, where he developed a passion for helping students learn, grow, and build confidence in their abilities. He also spent two years leading operations at The Salvation Army, gaining valuable experience in management, organization, team leadership, and community service.
Throughout his career, Brandon has enjoyed creating positive environments where people feel supported and empowered to succeed. He is excited to bring his experience, passion for education, and commitment to helping others to Mathnasium, where he looks forward to making a meaningful impact on students and their families.
