I have loved math for as long as I can remember. I do math all the time, even in my free time! I love finding super cool math problems and solving them. I was also always the one who was helping everyone else with their homework. It has been very natural for me to turn that love of math and of helping people into my dream job. I have been tutoring students of all levels for about 7 years and I have loved every second of it! Through all of my years of tutoring, I have never seen anything that comes close to the true power of Mathnasium. Here, I don’t just teach math, I get to make it fun! I have seen so many students gain true confidence and a love of math. I love being able to take a complicated math topic and break it down into easy pieces. There is nothing like that look in a kid's eye when it finally clicks! Having completed my Bachelors of Math at the University of Utah, I can comfortably teach anything from kindergarten up to calculus and beyond! I have so many cool math tricks that I love to show to students of all ages. I love that I get to do math and help students achieve for my job!

I LOVE to dance! I've been dancing since I was 2 years old. My favorite style is hip hop and jazz: the music is so much fun! When I was young, I didn't understand math. Once I received the help I needed, it made so much sense! I love to pass that along to my students!

When I'm not doing math, I do photography - which is still math! Great proportions and ratios make my pictures visually pleasing. Art & math don't have to be different. Math empowers ANYONE to take more control over their life: whether it is in their cooking, shopping or hobby! I also love chocolate and you can often find me inside a great fiction book!

I've been dancing since I was 9 years old, and now I'm on Herriman Dance Company. To dance onn beat with the music, I need to always be counting in sets of 8! If I didn't use my math skills to figure out which move goes on which count, I would be doing a whole different dance from the rest of the team! I also love to babysit, hangout with friends, paint, draw, hike, bike, and swim in my free time. I taught swimming lessons to children for about 8 months, and I loved it! I use math every day to time my students. Math helps with everything, and I know it will help you too!

I'm so excited to work at MATHNASIUM! I love math, but the way we teach gave me a whole new perspective on math and how to think about numbers! When I'm not learning amazing math, you will find me reading a good book or drawing geometric shapes on graph paper. Both require math: counting how many pages until I reach the climax, how much time I have left to read, or using number sequences to create amazing drawings!

PAYSON

Instructor
I love MUSIC! Specifically, I love to play music. Whether it's violin, piano, guitar, or trombone, I take so much joy in preparing something to preform! Playing in an orchestra requires math: even if it is just counting how much longer until I get to rest! I also love to read anything. From Brandon Sanderson to "The New Way Things Work", I love it all! Finally, I love to teach, and I'm excited to teach you as well!

TRAVIS

Instructor
I love math and I use it everyday - not just for school. I LOVE FOOD! Baking chocolate chip cookies is my specialty! Math lets me read & understand recipes and more importantly, double them easily! In cookies, the amount of butter influences the texture of cookies: the more butter the stiffer the cookie. When my recipe calls for 7 1/2 TBS butter, I immediately know I need 15 Tbs. Baking cookies are a great example of everyday geometry as well. Cookies spread about 2 inches outward, so I leave about 4 1/2 inches of space between my dough balls. Without accurate math, my cookies look and taste like mush!

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
