Whether she’s showing off cool math tricks or building a student’s confidence, she’s living her dream job.
Hello, I’m Mason! I’m the Assistant Director and I have worked at Mathnasium since 2017. One of my favorite things about working here, and the reason why I’ve worked here so long, is seeing the light bulb start to light up when a student begins to understand a difficult topic. Math can be a tricky subject for many people, but being able to share the passion I have for math and seeing students gain confidence in their math skills is very rewarding.
I’m currently studying computer science at Brigham Young University. I love all things math and computer related, and enjoy playing video games, listening to music, and reading books in my free time.
Ella Rogers is currently attending Salt Lake Community College. She plays piano, reads, draws, and plays video games in her free time. She loves math and believes that math is for everyone. Sophie Pearson-Terry is a junior at Bingham High School who enjoys staying active and creative. She sings in choir and school musicals, plays competition soccer, and spends her free time writing stories and poems or playing video games. Sophie is passionate about the arts and loves finding ways to express herself both on stage and on the page.
As a Mathnasium instructor, Sophie enjoys helping students build confidence and discover the fun side of math. She believes that with patience, encouragement, and hard work, anyone can succeed. She loves being part of a team that helps students grow, and she’s always excited to share in those “aha!” moments when things finally click.
For Ruchiraa, math has always been about discovery—the small “aha” moments that come after trying, failing, and finally figuring it out. She loves how math rewards patience and creativity, turning even the most frustrating problems into puzzles worth solving.
As a Biomedical Engineering major at the University of Utah, Ruchiraa enjoys exploring how math quietly shapes the world around us, from the steady patterns of a heartbeat to the way motion can be translated into numbers. When teaching, she tries to help students treat math as a space for curiosity and exploration, where understanding matters more than perfection.
