I am working on my primary education degree at Hillsborough Community College and then planning on finishing my degree at the University of South Florida. I formally worked for the Hillsborough County Public Schools in an after-school program, and this is where I decided to become a teacher. I enjoy working at Mathnasium because I love helping our students gain confidence in math and slowly start to like math. This summer I am the director of the Great Foundations program, working with our Pre-K and K students.
I am a junior at Tampa Prep, where I’m part of the STEM concentration as I prepare to pursue engineering in the future. I am currently taking AP Calculus BC. I’m also involved in several school organizations, including the Spanish Club, Asian Club, Speech and Debate, and the Humane Society Club, and I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Outside the classroom, I play varsity soccer on a state playoff team and compete in VEX Robotics. Each year, my team travels to Dallas for the World Championship, where we consistently place within the top 150 teams worldwide. In addition to competing, I volunteer with VEX IQ robotics at Title I schools, helping elementary students build engineering skills while having fun with hands-on competition. In my free time, I play soccer with Tampa Bay United, listen to music, and spend time with family and friends. I love working at Mathnasium because I get to watch students learn new concepts, gain confidence, and develop a genuine passion for math—and being part of that growth is incredibly rewarding.
I am a senior at The University of South Florida, majoring in Cybersecurity. I was born in Cuba and moved to the United States nine years ago. I speak Spanish fluidly. I took Calculus 1 & 2 and Statistics as well as a Mu Alpha Theta math club member in high school. In my spare time, I love to sketch and spend time with loved ones. I enjoy teaching the students math at Mathnasium and I, in turn, get to learn from them.
I am pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at The University of South Florida. I enjoy playing disc golf, guitar, and piano and working on personal programming projects. Math has always been my favorite subject in school, and working at Mathnasium is an excellent opportunity for me to help students strengthen their critical thinking skills and help them gain confidence in their abilities.
I graduated from Vavuniya Campus, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Science. After college, I got married and moved to the United States of America. I got my medical coder certificate at St. Petersburg College. I have two sons, Praveen is a freshman at the University of Florida and a former Mathnasium instructor, and Naveen is a freshman at Plant High School. I volunteered at Roosevelt Elementary School for five years before. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, sewing, and gardening. Working at Mathnasium is a great opportunity to help students to get essential math skills.
I am a current junior at Plant High School. I have completed Pre-Calculus and am currently taking AP Calculus. I’m a current member of Mu Alpha Theta, and plan to major in an Engineering field in college. Working at Mathnasium allows me to help people who need it and sharpen my own math skills.
I am currently a Junior at Berkeley Preparatory School. Math has been a strength and interest of mine throughout my life, and this school year, I am preparing to take AP Calculus BC as well as AP Physics II. When I am a senior, I plan to take Multivariable Calculus as well as AP Physics C and Quantum Physics to help pursue my aspirations of engineering in college (my dream school is UF, go Gators). However, I did not just join the Mathnasium team because of my strengths in math. I developed a passion for tutoring and sharing my knowledge through my work at the Berkeley Academy, the Berkeley Writing Center, and my three years as a counselor at Berkeley Baseball Camp. I've discovered that tutoring is both fun and fulfilling for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Mathnasium and am excited about the future as well!
I earned my education in Computer Science from Florida Polytechnic University. While I have a range of professional goals, my ultimate aspiration is to pursue a career in teaching. I have consistently excelled in mathematics and bring a deep understanding of the challenges students may face in learning, having personally overcome academic obstacles associated with undiagnosed ADHD during my own studies.
I’m a junior at Jefferson High School, originally from Cuba, and I’ve loved math since I was a kid. This year, I’m taking AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics, and I’m also an active member of Mu Alpha Theta, where I’ve competed in math bowl competitions for several years. I plan to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering, as I enjoy programming, physics, and creating engineering and electronics projects. At Mathnasium, I love helping students strengthen their math skills and discover the beauty of the subject.
I am now a graduate student at the University of South Florida, at the St. Petersburg campus. I attended Eckerd College for my undergraduate degrees in both Applied Mathematics and Marine Science with a concentration in biology, as well as a minor in Chemistry. At USF, I am now working towards my master's in Marine Science with a concentration on physical oceanography. I enjoy reading, making art, playing games, as well as taking care of my pet bearded dragon Quazar, and ball python Sunstone. I’ve always enjoyed tutoring, whether it be through NHS at my high school, tutoring peers throughout my undergraduate, and now at Mathnasium, where I can help students learn new skills and be more confident in their abilities.
I am a junior at Plant High School with a long-standing love for mathematics. I am currently taking AP Calculus AB and AP Physics 1, and I plan to continue challenging myself next year with AP Calculus BC and AP Physics 3. I am also an active member of Mu Alpha Theta, where I compete in math bowl competitions and tutor other students. Through this involvement, I’ve discovered how much I enjoy tutoring and helping students build confidence and a love for math.
I am a sophomore at the University of South Florida, pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. I completed Calculus III last semester and am excited to use my experience with math to help educate others. Before joining Mathnasium, I volunteered at a veterinary emergency room and worked in two professor-run research labs on campus. In those labs, I helped optimize a portable blood analysis device and explored the applications of protein synthesis in chronic wound healing. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing tabletop RPGs, spending time with my dog, and participating in a variety of outdoor activities—from biking and hiking to skydiving. I enjoy working at Mathnasium because I love teaching. Seeing math concepts through the eyes of different students gives me new perspectives and deepens my understanding in ways I might not have discovered on my own.
I am currently a junior at Berkeley Preparatory School, taking Honors Accelerated Precalculus. I was once a Mathnasium student myself and loved the experience, which inspired me to apply and become a tutor. My time as a peer tutor in my school’s writing center, along with my experience teaching kids as a Chess instructor, helped me discover how much I enjoy working with students and explaining concepts clearly and effectively. At Mathnasium, I’m able to combine my love for math with my passion for teaching to be the best tutor I can be. I have really enjoyed my time here so far—not only is it fun, but it’s rewarding to watch students’ confidence and skills grow. I’m excited to continue making a positive and meaningful impact on their learning journey!
I am an engineering physics and mathematics major at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. I have taken a range of math courses from business math to number theory, and I am currently taking Differential Equations and Methods in Pure Mathematics. I have also participated in COMAP’s Mathematical Contest in Modeling! In my free time, I enjoy tinkering around with arduinos, working out, and rereading The Lord of the Rings. Having been a student at Mathnasium, getting to work here has been an incredible experience for me as I have gotten to ‘step on the other side, so to speak. Being an instructor has both expanded my own knowledge of mathematics and also has helped me figure out how to make learning fun- which is, I think, one of the things that has made Mathnasium as special as it is.
