Mathnasium of Spokane Valley: Back-to-School Success Starts Here!!

Q1: What advice would you give parents who want to help their child start the school year with confidence?

A1:
I would advice parents to support their child through teaching them that it's okay to ask for help. Oftentimes, students will become too scared or afraid to ask for help, and rather will start to suffer in silence. Building a safe place where children can feel comfortable admitting their weaknesses is a great way in which parents can help prepare their kids for the school year. Students can enter the school year more confident through staying active in their learning over the summer to help keep all of their skills fresh and ready to go!

Q2: What are some of the most common math challenges students face at the beginning of a new school year?

A2:
Some of the most common math challenges that students face at the start of the year is simply not being unconfident in their abilities. Students can forget key skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division during the summer slide which could derail the start to their school year. Students who feel more confident in their abilities are more likely to actively participate in their math class and have an overall more enjoyable math experience!

Q3: What makes this time of year exciting at your Mathnasium center?

A3:
At Mathnasium, we are excited to see all of the hard work our students put in all summer long come to fruition! Students who have struggled with math in previous years, often feel more prepared and confident going into a new school year having practiced over the summer.
