Q1: What is one thing students can do to build stronger math habits during the school year?
A1: Starting homework and practicing new math concepts early is key to success in math throughout the school year. Figuring out what you don't understand about a concept early on in the lecture, allows for more time the student can get help in the topic. The more practice you do, the easier it will get!
Q2: What can students do when they come across a math problem they don't understand?
A2: We do our best to give students not just tools to solve a problem, but confidence to try multiple methods and to reach out for help when necessary. One of my favorite aspects of math is that there are often multiple ways to approach a problem, so we show students all these ways to provide them with a full toolbox and allow for the student to find a way that clicks best with them!
Q3: How can understanding math concepts help students feel more confident?
A3: When students understand math concepts it can help them learn new math skills and have a stronger understanding of the topics they know. This will help students feel more confident when faced with new or challenging topics.
