Q1: How can students stay academically active during summer while still enjoying their break?
A1: Students can stay academically active during the summer by practicing their schoolwork 2 days a week! This is still a break from school as they only do their schoolwork for 2 days a week instead of 5 days a week. This will help students' brains to retain their current knowledge and resist the summer slide.
Q2: What are some ways math connects to sports like soccer or the Football World Cup?
A2: Math can be applied to multiple aspects of soccer! Math can be used to calculate how many minutes are left in a game or even what fractional part of the game has passed. It can also be connected to smaller details! For example, a soccer ball is just a bunch of pentagons and hexagons woven together!
Q3: Why is summer a valuable time for students to strengthen skills before the next school year?
A3: Summer is a valuable time for students to strengthen their math skills because it allows them to catch up, review, or get ahead depending on where they're at! We can help sharpen skills that might not have fully clicked during the school year, as well as, introduce them to new skills for the next grade level!
Q4: How does your center help students stay confident, motivated, and prepared during the summer months?
A4: At Mathnasium of Spokane Valley, we help students stay confident, motivated, and prepared over summer by introducing a fun bingo board! Over summer, students will be able to complete certain tasks to help them earn additional prizes in center. This way, students can stay motivated and proud of their math all summer long!
