Mathnasium of Spokane Valley: Staying Consistent in Summer + Building Confidence

May 15, 2026 | Spokane Valley

Q1: Why is it important for students to stay consistent with math during the summer?

A1:
Just like many other skills, consistency and practice is key with math in order to retain and improve math skills. Spending several months away from math will result in lots of time spent re-learning material which can be especially difficult in math as it is always building on itself. A strong foundation is needed to be a strong mathematician and the best way to keep that foundation is to practice math year-round!

Q2: How does your center help students build confidence in math?

A2:
Our center helps students build confidence in math by building on the knowledge and skills they already have to help them see themselves as capable of math. As students master concepts and begin to make connections across topics, they deepen their mathematical understanding and grow in confidence. We meet students where they are, building on what they do know, helping them learn more, and develop new skills - all of which ignite a sense of confidence within our students!

Q3: What changes do you typically see in students after a few weeks of learning?

A3:
Confidence! Students begin to feel more confident in their math abilities within the first few weeks of joining Mathnasium. The encouragement from the instructors as well as the prizes help students gain confidence quickly as they see their hard work pay off!
