Cassandra graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. While pursuing this degree, Cassandra grew a passion for working with children of all ages as she focused her studies on the school-to-prison pipeline. She has worked with a number of non-profit organizations in Richmond, that focused on building resiliency in children and providing them with the support they need to succeed. Social work changed how Cassandra saw and moved through the world, forcing her to see the dignity and worth of every person, something that she continues to carry with her in her personal and professional life. Cassandra remembers struggling with Mathematics throughout grade school but has slowly developed a new level of respect and excitement for it while working at Mathnasium, learning, what she now believes, are crucial foundational skills that can alleviate a significant amount of prior stress. With this background, Cassandra hopes to reach students who also have a tumultuous relationship with math - to lead them to that great sense of accomplishment that comes with solving a challenging problem and to show them that it is never too late to fall in love with numbers.
