Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Helal Eltoukhy

Director

Hello, my name is Helal. I was raised in Egypt and moved here when I was around 11. I'm a student at Purdue University, majoring in Wealth Management. The reason I became part of the Mathnasium is I love to teach math and help students as much as I can. When I was young, I had a problem with math but receiving the help I needed got me to love math so I want to return the favor and help as many people as I possibly can.

Angel Bravo

Lead Instructor
I am a UConn-Stamford student, majoring in Economics and Finance, with a strong passion for math. My high school and college tutoring experiences have taught me valuable teaching skills that help me better understand what goes on in the minds of our math students. I believe our instructors' fluent communication with the students is key to our center's success and the battle against students' hostility toward math. Using the Mathnasium Method, I have adapted my teaching language and thought processes to make math make sense and ensure an enjoyable visit for our students. We look forward to your next visit to Mathnasium!

Tafadzwa Musoni

My name is Taffy Musoni, and I am a seasoned financial professional with over 15 years of experience in asset management, financial analysis, and data management. My proficiency in stochastic modeling and operational efficiency, combined with a passion for mathematics, allows me to provide insightful and engaging instruction towards students. I am dedicated to helping your children excel in mathematics through personalized and effective teaching methods.

Luke Cisco

Instructor
After spending my childhood growing up in international schools in India and Thailand, I knew I wanted to be a professional educator. In my opinion, learning is the pinnacle of human achievement and experience, and there is no pursuit more noble! I was the director of the science program at The Cardinal Shehan Center for three years, House Manager at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, and a band and guitar instructor for 20 years. Currently, I'm finishing my master's degree in Secondary Education of Math and Science in pursuit of teaching higher education. My degree is in marine biology; ask me about scuba diving!

Lisa Elbrish

Instructor

Hi, I am Lisa. I am bi-lingual, fluent in English and Japanese. I love working on art and music, and I’ve been tutoring math and science for a couple years. I am passionate about teaching and helping other students, just as I have had help from my teachers. Seeing students improve and finally understand something is a great feeling, because they’re learning and getting better. I’ve also worked as a volunteer at the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk and have loved teaching kids about marine science and conservation!

Miki Tanahashi

Instructor

Hi everyone! My name is Miki (pronounced like Mickey Mouse °o°) and I use she/her pronouns. This is my 5th year in education and 4th year supporting students specifically in math. Most of my experience is as an elementary classroom teacher in Bridgeport, CT, and I have also served the Norwalk community and New Haven community in non-traditional educator roles. These experiences have fostered a passion in education, particularly math learning in the US! As someone who struggled in the subject area as a child, I'm motivated to make math feel accessible, relatable and easy to understand. My hope is that kids gain as many tools in their educational toolkit as possible so they have endless opportunities presented to them as they grow older.

Mark Minio

Instructor

I graduated from Iona University with a Bachelor's in Mathematics. My particular area of

interest is Game Theory. I have been interested in math my entire life. I strongly believe that

skill in math is a result of practice and patience more than intelligence. It is my hope that I will

be able to share my passion for math with others.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
