Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Nicolas Silva

Center Director
I was born in the United States; however, I was raised, and spent most of my life in Brazil, which is where most of my education in math comes from. There, I fell in love with the subject and with teaching. Four years ago I moved to the US, and brought my passions with me. I have been at Mathnasium for almost 2 years now, and hope to keep teaching for many years to come.

Angel Bravo

Lead Instructor
I am a UConn-Stamford student, majoring in Economics and Finance, with a strong passion for math. My high school and college tutoring experiences have taught me valuable teaching skills that help me better understand what goes on in the minds of our math students. I believe our instructors' fluent communication with the students is key to our center's success and the battle against students' hostility toward math. Using the Mathnasium Method, I have adapted my teaching language and thought processes to make math make sense and ensure an enjoyable visit for our students. We look forward to your next visit to Mathnasium!

Jason Bin

Lead Instructor
My name is Jason Bin, and I am a graduate from Stamford High School. Before becoming an Instructor at Mathnasium, I was an instructor of martial arts, which is when I realized my love for teaching and working with kids. Since then, I have known that I want to be a teacher, and Mathnasium has only encouraged that passion. I have been part of the Mathnasium team since Fall of 2021, and my favorite part about it is how it has always felt like such a welcoming environment for both, the students, and the instructors. Math has always been something that just makes sense to me and am happy to help it make sense to others too. I really believe in the program here and love seeing kids understand their math work while they enjoy what they are doing.

Alex Cohen

Instructor
Hi! I’m Alex. I’m a Junior at Westhill High School right here in Stamford. I love math, have loved it since my early years in school, and of course, I love teaching math. I would like to be a math teacher when I’m older. Through Mathnasium, I’ve come to learn how math works in the minds of the students, and the best ways to help them develop their math skills. I have the pleasure to be in a wonderful working environment and I can assure the students and their parents that at Mathnasium they will overcome any challenges with the help of our dedicated team. My goal is to ensure every student at Mathnasium ends their sessions feeling as good as I do.

Luke Cisco

Instructor
After spending my childhood growing up in international schools in India and Thailand, I knew I wanted to be a professional educator. In my opinion, learning is the pinnacle of human achievement and experience, and there is no pursuit more noble! I was the director of the science program at The Cardinal Shehan Center for three years, House Manager at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, and a band and guitar instructor for 20 years. Currently, I'm finishing my master's degree in Secondary Education of Math and Science in pursuit of teaching higher education. My degree is in marine biology; ask me about scuba diving!

Jack Song

Instructor
Hey there! I'm Jack, a computer science enthusiast and educator who graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2023. Mathematics has always been my forte, fueling my passion for problem-solving. Teaching at Mathnasium is also a great way for me to look at math topics from a different perspective. When I'm not teaching or coding, you'll often find me on the badminton court, staying active and indulging in my favorite sport. Whether I'm crunching numbers or perfecting my backhand, I'm always eager to learn, grow, and inspire others along the way.

Fritz Smith

Instructor
My name is Fritz Smith, I graduated from the Brunswick School in Greenwich, and currently attend the University of Virginia. Ever since I was little math and science were always my favorite subjects. I also love teaching math and its many details to other students. Watching students progress with their skills is always gratifying to watch. Our dedicated team has created methods that help students overcome obstacles and excel in a way that allows students to bring their learning as quickly as possible to the classroom. I truly believe in the program at Mathnasium!

Nina Smith

Instructor
My name is Nina, and I am a student at Darien High School. There, I am an athlete and an avid musician. Math is great, I’ve always had a knack for it. I love how there is almost always a clear-cut answer to every question and how everything comes together like a big puzzle in the end. Being the youngest in my family, I’ve always wanted younger siblings and cousins. That’s why I love working with kids so much. I can’t wait to inspire and challenge my students and help them love math just as much as me.

Amy Meng

Instructor
My name is Amy, and I am a senior at New Canaan High School. I've always loved working with kids and have taught tennis, English, and math to younger students before coming to Mathnasium. Even as an instructor, I can learn so much from students. I love watching kids improve both academically and socially. At Mathnasium, I hope to foster a deeper appreciation for math among students.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
