Partnering for a Brighter Future: Mathnasium of St. Charles & Big Hearts of Fox Valley

At Mathnasium of St. Charles, we believe that every child deserves the chance to succeed in math, no matter their financial situation. That’s why we are incredibly proud to partner with Big Hearts of Fox Valley, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families facing economic hardships.

Together, we’re launching a scholarship initiative to ensure that cost is never a barrier to building a brighter academic future. These scholarships will provide free math tutoring and enrichment for students who need extra support but whose families may not have the means to access it.

Why This Matters

The need for math support in our community is greater than ever. Consider these sobering statistics:

• In Kane County, only 28% of students met or exceeded grade-level expectations in math in 2023, according to Illinois Report Card data.

• Illinois has seen a steady decline in math proficiency since 2019, with statewide averages falling below 30% proficiency at key grade levels.

• Alarmingly, students who fall behind in elementary math are five times more likely to continue struggling throughout high school, limiting their college and career opportunities.

• National data shows that students from low-income households are disproportionately affected, scoring an average of two grade levels behind their peers by middle school.
