Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Tim W.

Instructor

Hi! I'm Tim!

I've been an instructor with Mathnasium for quite a while now, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. Helping students gain confidence in math and seeing them succeed is something I’m truly passionate about. Right now, I’m a freshman in college, focusing on college-level Algebra, which works out perfectly since Algebra is my favorite type of math to teach! I love the challenge of solving equations and helping students understand those concepts.

As an instructor, I aim to create a calm, supportive environment where students can build a strong foundation in math. I believe that having a solid grasp of the basics is key to tackling more advanced topics. I want every student to feel confident and capable in their math skills.

Outside of teaching, I’m an avid chess player. It’s a great way to keep my mind sharp and think strategically, much like solving math problems! Recently, I was honored to be voted Instructor of the Quarter, which was an amazing recognition and reminded me of how much I love helping students succeed in math.

Yzabelle D.

Instructor

Hi! I'm Yzabelle!

I’m currently a junior at St. Charles East High School, where I’m taking Calculus BC. At STCE, I’m fortunate to be involved in several extracurricular activities, including the Math National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, our X-Ray school newspaper, and Educators Rising. Outside of these, I also volunteer through our Saints Helping Hawks program every week, tutoring middle school students. I’ve had plenty of experience helping my siblings and peers with their coursework, and I truly enjoy working with others. I find that teaching concepts not only helps others, but it also deepens my own understanding.

I’ve always had a passion for learning and discovery, and I love sharing that enthusiasm with others. At Mathnasium, I’m excited to help students find that same passion for math. In my free time, I’m drawn to the arts, whether it’s drawing, writing, or playing music. I find a lot of joy in expressing my creativity, whether it’s through the piano or with a pen and paper.

Jacob H.

Instructor

Hi! My name is Jacob.

I earned my undergraduate degree in General Mathematics from Illinois State University and am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching at McKendree University, working toward becoming a high school math teacher. I discovered my passion for teaching through tutoring during undergrad, and it’s only grown since—I truly enjoy sharing my love for math with students here at Mathnasium!

I’ve been with Mathnasium since 2020, working at two different locations with unique teaching styles. While I’ve served as a Center Director, my primary role has been as an instructor, giving me a strong understanding of the Mathnasium curriculum and its students.

Outside of teaching, I’m a big Cubs fan and love playing chess and piano. I’m excited to use my experience and passion to help your student succeed in math!
