Mathnasium of St. Michael's personalized geometry tutoring programs are designed to support students at every stage of their math journey.
Middle school students learn key concepts including angles, shapes, congruence, and measurement, while developing strong spatial awareness and reasoning skills that support future success in geometry.
Following personalized learning plans, we guide students through topics such as proofs, triangles, circles, transformations, and the Pythagorean theorem, helping them truly understand how geometry works.
We support honors students and those preparing for math competitions with advanced proofs, coordinate geometry, and rigorous problem-solving, guiding them in developing college-ready skills and deeper mathematical insight.
At Mathnasium of St. Michael, our specially trained tutors work with K-12 students of all skill levels to help them truly understand and enjoy geometry through face-to-face instruction in a caring and fun group environment.
We help students connect geometric concepts to logical reasoning and real-world applications. As their understanding grows, so does their confidence to approach new problems with clarity and precision.
Our tutors use the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach that combines personalized learning plans with proven instructional techniques. We work with K-12 students helping them develop lasting understanding of geometry.
In each session, students receive face-to-face instruction in a small-group setting where they strengthen problem-solving skills and deepen their understanding of geometric relationships and logic.
Students begin their Mathnasium experience with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify their current skill level, knowledge gaps, and learning goals.
Using these insights, we create a personalized learning plan tailored to each student’s needs. Our tutors then focus instruction on key topics such as angles, congruence, transformations, the Pythagorean Theorem, and proofs, ensuring they learn and master each concept step by step.

Education:
I graduated from Champlin Park High School in 2022 and completed 2 years of a biomedical engineering program at Northwestern University.
Years of experience teaching math:
I have been working at Mathnasium for four months now, and I have tutored many of my friends and younger kids in math throughout my life.
What do you like most about learning?
I enjoy learning math specifically because I find it interesting to see the different ways people approach the same problem. There are various ways to approach a problem and still arrive at the right answer, and it’s fun to figure out which approach works best for each person.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
We had a student come into the center who was really behind in math and needed to work on many fundamental skills. They were also quite shy their first few days, so I made sure the center was a fun place where they could be themself. Now, after working with them for a few months, they have mastered many of the fundamental skills they need to succeed in math, and have come out of their shell a lot!
How do you make learning math fun for students?
It’s important to me that I start off every session with a short conversation about how the student’s week is going and what they’re doing outside of school. Learning about each student's interests outside of school helps me build a relationship with them. Then, if a student gets bored or frustrated during their session, I have a few conversation topics to bring up, so they can take a short break and talk about their interests before being redirected back to their work.

What do you like most about learning?
I like challenging myself to learn skills or topics that are difficult for me. It takes a lot of hard work to master them, but the reward is so worth it in the end.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
One time, when I was helping a student who was struggling with coin equivalence, the strategy I usually teach was still confusing to them. I came up with a new strategy that built on their knowledge of multiplication and division and they improved a lot!
