Education is in my blood: I’m the son of two teachers and a veteran of a career in higher education. While working with college students, a constant struggle I found was in math preparation. So many high school grads just aren’t prepared for problem solving in college, careers, or just life in general! Starting in the pandemic, I homeschooled my own children, advancing them two full grade levels above the norm for their age. I learned that especially in math, children need personalized attention to fully gain the understanding necessary to achieve success. Just a little goes a long way! At Mathnasium of Suffolk, you’ll see this process in action. My favorite number is e, the base of natural logarithms.
I am originally from North Carolina. I met my husband of almost 30 years at NC State where we both graduated. We soon moved to Virginia where we raised our 3 children. My greatest joy, aside from math of course, is our 2 granddaughters! I have been tutoring for over 20 years and am so excited to join Mathnasium this summer! My favorite number is 7 because it is the number of the month I was born
I have always loved math and helping people, so I am excited to work with Mathnasium to help people learn math. In addition to math, I also am passionate about music, and have been studying classical voice for three years, and am in my fourth year at Governor’s School for the Arts. Also, my favorite number is 4!
I've loved math since 2+2. I have always been the volunteer to help other kids in class with misunderstandings. I love seeing that a child is proud of themselves. Outside of mathematics, I enjoy reading and writing as well as watching little kids. My favorite number is 1 due to the infinite possibilities.
I am an applied mathematics major at Old Dominion University. Math is my passion, and I love all of it whether it's theorems, arithmetic, proofs, numbers, or letters. I have tutored many of my classmates in math throughout school, and reaching a true understanding of the topic is always the goal. My favorite number is zero, due to all the rules about it.
I like to solve problems, puzzles, and I enjoy taking apart and fixing anything I can get. My parents have been culinary teachers/chefs my entire life, so converting fractions is right up my wheelhouse. I plan on becoming a mechanical engineer and a lawyer as well, because I like a challenge. I'm thrilled to be here and I will do my best to improve those I'm lucky enough to work with. My favorite number is 22/7.
Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
