Andrea Kaplan, a long-time Utahn and Westminster College graduate, holds a BS in Psychology. After careers in psychology and corporate HR, she found her passion in operating Mathnasium. Andrea loves helping children build confidence in math while running a business that directly impacts her community.
She and her husband David discovered Mathnasium while searching for enrichment for their own children. Now, Andrea works closely with local schools, teachers, and families to support students through personalized math instruction and community engagement.
Lindsey earned her Bachelor of Science in Family, Consumer, and Human Development from Utah State University. She has experience in after-school programs, literacy education through AmeriCorps, and as a math aide in the Canyons School District.
Now at Mathnasium, Lindsey loves helping children overcome math challenges with a curriculum that finally makes sense. When she’s not supporting students at the center, she’s busy raising her three kids. She’s passionate about education and inspired by the progress she sees in each child’s journey.
Joey is a Computer Science student at the University of Utah who enjoys helping students improve their math skills and grow in confidence. He believes learning should be supportive and fun.
When not studying or teaching, Joey spends his time skiing, playing piano, and exploring the outdoors. His approachable style makes him a favorite among students who appreciate his calm and encouraging presence.
Justin attends Highland High School and is passionate about math and science. He takes multiple AP courses and hopes to pursue a career in math or engineering after college.
Justin enjoys helping others understand new concepts and build confidence in their abilities. His love of learning and enthusiasm for teaching make him a great mentor for students of all levels.
Eli attends the University of Utah and is majoring in Accounting. He loves photography, feeding birds in Sugar House Park, and getting to travel the world. His favorite subject is Statistics because of its real-world applications.
At Mathnasium, Eli enjoys helping students see how math connects to their lives and watching their understanding grow.
Tali grew up in Park City, but moved to Minnesota to attend Carleton College, where she received a degree in chemistry. Now that she’s back in Utah, she is excited to be able to share her life-long love of math with students. In her free time, she likes to bake and crochet small animals.
Paige attends the University of Utah. She has loved math from a young girl and loves how math can be applied in daily scenarios. In her free time, she plays competitive soccer, loves the outdoors, and loves hanging out with friends and family.
Micah is currently a student at Skyline High School. When not doing math, he loves coding, hiking, and getting outdoors. He is ready to show that math isn’t a chore, but a tool people use every day to succeed.
Josh is from Utah, but left to Golden, CO to attend the Colorado School of Mines where he studied physics. While there, he was a physics teaching assistant for three years and got to help students succeed. He also got to see the huge impact the professors had on their students and how happy they were in their lives and jobs. This all persuaded him to want a future in education, so he left Mines to come back to Utah to pursue being a teacher. Beyond physics, Josh is a huge distance runner and extremely into rollerblading.
Anna is studying Entrepreneurship at the University of Utah. During her free time she loves reading, sewing, and writing music. She has always loved math and the way it is applicable to so many part of life and loves helping students learn to also understand and love math.
Hi everyone, my name is Garnet! I am attending the University of Utah and studying Computer Science. In high school, I participated in my school's robotics team, competed at various levels in math and coding (and won a few times), and helped my friends with their homework, so I am no stranger to math. I moved from Salem, Oregon, where I worked at my local Mathnasium and saw many of the students I worked with improve every day. I love working with kids and helping create new ways for them to think about math.
Mason is studying physics at the University of Utah. He enjoys climbing, skiing, and calisthenics. Mason is interested in teaching because it is his dream to become a teacher later in life when he is done with his career of research.
Spencer is a graduate of the University of Utah with an MS in Mathematics, an MS in Education, and a BS in Statistics. He has 25 years of teaching experience among Salt Lake Community College, Utah Valley University, the University of Utah, and Jordan School District. He has 17 nieces and nephews, and loves working with kids of all ages. He is an avid fan of Boston sports and Disney parks.
Marie is a student at the University of Utah studying Civil Engineering. She is originally from Bend, OR and moved to Utah for the skiing, hiking, and rock climbing. She's always enjoyed math, and loves helping others grasp concepts and understand their real world applications!
David attends West High School. Ever since discovering his passion for mathematics at a young age, he has always been eager to learn more about it and help others find the joy in math that he cherishes. He regularly competes in math tournaments and competitions and loves the thrill of solving difficult problems. He also enjoys tennis, reading, and coding. After his early morning run and caffeine of any kind, David is ready to help others overcome their fear of math.
Simon is a first generation American and son to Russian immigrant parents. Growing up in New York, he tutored other immigrants and first generation students in reading and math where he found a love for the job. He is now studying Game Design at the University of Utah and directing short films in his spare time.
Hi, I'm Riley! I like to hike, snowboard, climb mountains, travel, and learn new things. I got my degrees in Physics and Linguistics from the University of Utah (woohoo class of '24!) and now I'm working towards becoming an archaeologist/geoscientist. Math was always my most challenging subject in school, but it became my favorite once I realized all the COOL stuff I could do with it!
Daniel is a student at the University of Utah studying civil engineering. He loves playing tennis, hiking, and hanging out with friends. He loves teaching people how to solve problems and critically approach math.
