Andrea Kaplan, a long-time Utahn and Westminster College graduate, holds a BS in Psychology. After careers in psychology and corporate HR, she found her passion in operating Mathnasium. Andrea loves helping children build confidence in math while running a business that directly impacts her community.
She and her husband David discovered Mathnasium while searching for enrichment for their own children. Now, Andrea works closely with local schools, teachers, and families to support students through personalized math instruction and community engagement.
Joey is a Computer Science student at the University of Utah who enjoys helping students improve their math skills and grow in confidence. He believes learning should be supportive and fun.
When not studying or teaching, Joey spends his time skiing, playing piano, and exploring the outdoors. His approachable style makes him a favorite among students who appreciate his calm and encouraging presence.
Justin attends Highland High School and is passionate about math and science. He takes multiple AP courses and hopes to pursue a career in math or engineering after college.
Justin enjoys helping others understand new concepts and build confidence in their abilities. His love of learning and enthusiasm for teaching make him a great mentor for students of all levels.
Eli attends the University of Utah and is majoring in Accounting. He loves photography, feeding birds in Sugar House Park, and getting to travel the world. His favorite subject is Statistics because of its real-world applications.
At Mathnasium, Eli enjoys helping students see how math connects to their lives and watching their understanding grow.
Tali grew up in Park City, but moved to Minnesota to attend Carleton College, where she received a degree in chemistry. Now that she’s back in Utah, she is excited to be able to share her life-long love of math with students. In her free time, she likes to bake and crochet small animals.
Josh is from Utah, but left to Golden, CO to attend the Colorado School of Mines where he studied physics. While there, he was a physics teaching assistant for three years and got to help students succeed. He also got to see the huge impact the professors had on their students and how happy they were in their lives and jobs. This all persuaded him to want a future in education, so he left Mines to come back to Utah to pursue being a teacher. Beyond physics, Josh is a huge distance runner and extremely into rollerblading.
Mason is studying physics at the University of Utah. He enjoys climbing, skiing, and calisthenics. Mason is interested in teaching because it is his dream to become a teacher later in life when he is done with his career of research.
Spencer is a graduate of the University of Utah with an MS in Mathematics, an MS in Education, and a BS in Statistics. He has 25 years of teaching experience among Salt Lake Community College, Utah Valley University, the University of Utah, and Jordan School District. He has 17 nieces and nephews, and loves working with kids of all ages. He is an avid fan of Boston sports and Disney parks.
Chloe is studying Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Utah. She loves guiding kids to discover concepts for themselves and helping them learn how to check their work with confidence. In her free time, she enjoys mountain biking, music, and sudoku.
Matt is a student at the University of Utah who enjoys hiking, skiing, and classic literature. With a lifetime passion for mathematics and the learning process, he is excited to help students achieve breakthroughs and strengthen their fundamental skills.
Luke attends the University of Utah and is studying mathematics. He loves to teach about anything, especially his favorite subject -- math! He loves helping others solve problems and learn more about numbers and the way they work. He is also an avid contest mathematician and enjoys helping others up their game. Outside of the classroom, Luke enjoys skiing, classical music, and strategy games.
Milo is studying economics at the University of Utah. He grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia, and has loved math since he was a kid. He loved tutoring math for three years in high school in both English and Spanish. He also enjoys playing soccer and photography.
Ezra grew up in Utah and received a degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah. He enjoys helping students find personal victories and an appreciation for math. He strongly believes that learning can and should be exciting and fun for everyone. In his free time, he likes to play instruments, write, and go on walks.
Matt is a Utah native whose math career began as a Math Sterling Scholar at Bonneville High School. He went on to earn a degree in Mathematics and Physics at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where he was a proud member of the Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society and enjoyed tutoring and teaching students math in college.
His love for the outdoors lead him to a career with the U.S. Forest Service where he works on the trails and the wilderness areas around Salt Lake. By day, Matt helps others enjoy the great outdoors, and by afternoon, he's at Mathnasium helping students explore the wonderful world of math.
Nathan attends Highland High School and loves math, science and music. He takes AP courses to challenge himself and prepare for college, where he hopes to study math. Nathan loves to help others understand topics, and even hopes to become a math teacher someday.
Isaac is an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Utah with a love for learning and exploring. When not working on schoolwork, he's fixing his car, playing with his dogs, or working on something that looks an awful lot like his schoolwork for fun.
