Mathnasium of Sun Prairie's personalized algebra tutoring programs are designed to support students at every stage of their math journey.
Students build algebraic reasoning by mastering integers, fractions, order of operations, and introductory variables through personalized instruction that bridges concrete arithmetic and abstract thinking.
We help students tackle multi-step equations, linear functions, graphing, and word problems with proven techniques that transform this pivotal course into a confident foundation for their future math journey.
Our tutors provide targeted support for fast-paced topics—factoring polynomials, quadratics, exponentials, and logarithms—developing the advanced problem-solving skills necessary for Precalculus and college-prep courses.
At Mathnasium of Sun Prairie, our specially trained math tutors support students across all stages of algebra learning. From Prealgebra through Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, we help students work through topics such as equations, functions, graphing, and polynomials with clarity and purpose.
Instruction takes place in a caring and fun group environment, where tutors focus on teaching algebra in a way that feels logical and approachable. By using clear explanations and meeting students at their current level, we help them gain confidence as their understanding grows.
We teach using the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that helps students truly understand how algebra works, not just memorize steps. Our approach emphasizes reasoning, problem-solving, and building connections between concepts.
Tutors use proven interactive techniques alongside personalized learning plans, allowing instruction to reflect how each student learns best. This helps students apply algebra more effectively in class and feel more comfortable using it beyond the classroom.
The enrollment process begins with a diagnostic assessment that gives us insight into their current skills, learning gaps, and goals. Using this information, we design a personalized learning plan that provides focused, step-by-step support.
As students progress, tutors follow the plan closely and adjust instruction in real time. Concepts are reinforced, new material is introduced gradually, and students build a deeper understanding of the algebra concepts they’re working with, along with the confidence to use them independently.

Specially Trained and Caring Team
Aiyana
Center Director
Aiyana, a New Hampshire native, fell in love with Madison 6 years ago and has been here ever since! Aiyana graduated from Ohio University with a Master’s degree in physics. She also holds a Bachelor’s in physics from Union College where her academic excellence led to her induction in Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honor society, and Sigma Xi, the research honor society. It’s safe to say she loves math!
Teaching has been a common throughline in Aiyana’s experience and education. Aiyana initially started tutoring in college by running the physics help center. She also taught local youth through outreach programs in the Society of Physics Students but she truly learned to love teaching while working as a planetarium show operator. After undergrad, Aiyana worked as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics classes and more recently got her certification as an early childhood education teaching assistant.
One of Aiyana’s passions is to clarify subjects that were previously opaque. She treasures the moment a student starts to understand a topic as well as the thought-provoking questions students often ask! Aiyana brings this passion and excitement for learning to Mathnasium and works to make mathematics a little easier for every student.
Ian
Assistant Center Director
Ian started with Mathnasium over 5 years ago as an instructor in Green Bay. Over that time Ian has moved through the ranks from instructor to lead instructor at Green Bay and then to assistant director here at Sun Prairie. Ian cares so much about Mathnasium and the students we teach, he let them raise reward points to pie him in the face at a recent Pi Day celebration! His favorite part of teaching at Mathnasium is seeing the moment a concept “clicks” in a student’s brain.
Ian’s dedication to teaching and Mathnasium are complimented by his background and enjoyment of mathematics. He values our bottom-up learning approach that builds a student’s math skills starting from their current understanding. Ian graduated from UW Whitewater with a degree in computer science. Before that he enjoyed taking advanced math classes in high school like AP Calculus and coaching the middle school math team, as well as participating in the high school math team. One thing is sure, regardless of the level, you want Ian on your math team!
Hannah
Instructor
Hannah, originally from California, left the Golden State to join us in snowy Wisconsin! Although her enjoyment of the state may vary with the season, her love of math has been lifelong. As a child, her father would lull her to sleep with visions of digits. Instead of counting sheep, Hannah would fall asleep squaring numbers. Now, she wishes to pass the love of math onto the next generation and is studying to become a middle and high school math teacher.
Hannah has been tutoring since 2020 when she was asked by her mathematics professors to join the math tutoring program. From there, Hannah joined another tutoring center before finally settling at Mathnasium. Hannah prefers the Mathnasium method over other centers she has worked at since Mathnasium is customized to each student, and we focus on a proactive, rather than reactive, approach. Our students agree, too!
Meghan
Instructor
Meghan is currently a junior at UW-Madison majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in mathematics. She hopes to apply those skills to Formula One once she graduates. Meghan found her love of teaching in high school, working as a mathematics tutor, and further advanced those skills by working in an elementary school. She enjoys working with younger students because they bring fresh perspectives and excitement to lessons. She finds it especially rewarding to build their fundamental mathematics skills as these serve as the foundation for all future mathematics curriculum and she wants to make them as strong as possible! Meghan takes pride in ensuring student’s mathematics experiences are as positive and encouraging as possible.
Meghan joined Mathnasium two years ago and continues to be a bright presence at Mathnasium today. She values the small group sizes at Mathnasium, a 1:3 instructor to student ratio, compared to school class sizes or other tutoring centers. Meghan also enjoys the collaborative and encouraging environment and sharing her love of math with the students!
Ethan
Instructor
Ethan’s math background is truly impressive! He graduated Summa Cum Laude (GPA 3.9+) from UW Madison with a degree in computer engineering. His transcript includes many math classes like linear algebra, calculus, and even cryptography, but as a computer engineering major, he also took math heavy science/engineering classes like electrodynamics. In high school, Ethan took both AB and BC AP Calculus, but he wasn't just good with math; Ethan also earned the honor of being a National Merit Scholarship finalist.
Ethan first discovered a passion for teaching during Covid. His younger sibling struggled taking calculus online, so Ethan developed a lesson plan and tutored his sibling to help them understand the concepts. Now, he enjoys tutoring others at Mathnasium. He loves fostering a student’s love of math and when they ask engaging questions, often taking a topic beyond what is on the page or applying it to real life situations. However, Ethan finds it equally rewarding to help students that don’t love math by sharpening their skills and making it a little easier.
Whether they would like to attend sessions in-center or online, students can take 3 easy steps to enroll at Mathnasium.
All students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints what they already know and the algebraic concepts they still need to learn.
