Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

James Sullivan

Director of Center Operations
If your student has an opportunity to work in our @Home environment, they will be lucky enough to meet James! James is one of our most experienced Mathnasium instructors, and oversees all Center Operations across our organization. James' educational background includes an undergraduate focus on pre-med, with some engineering courses mixed in. His attraction to math began at an early age, but has only grown as he's learned more about what has been accomplished with math. James believes that math can be appreciated through something as basic as realizing that smartphones wouldn't exist without it, to something as complex as the fascinating explanation of the physical world and it's natural forces. We are thrilled that James feels that working at Mathnasium has been one of the most rewarding jobs he's had! Getting to witness kids learn to develop an appreciation for math as their skills and confidence grow gives James hope for the future - as he truly feels that math has the potential to help solve many future world problems through its application in technology and medicine.

Barry & Kathryn Fausnaugh

Owners & Center Directors
Barry and Kathryn Fausnaugh are experienced Mathnasium Center Owners and Directors, and dedicated to the success of the students at Mathnasium of Towson! They have owned and operated Mathnasium Learning Centers since 2012. Barry holds a B.S. degree from UMUC (now UMGC) in information systems management, and Kathryn holds a B.S. degree from Virginia Tech in accounting and holds a CPA license. Both Barry and Kathryn enjoyed distinguished careers in IT and management consulting, prior to transitioning to pursue opportunities with Mathnasium. As dedicated parents, Barry and Kathryn know first-hand the struggles many children (and parents) face with math. Barry and Kathryn believe that mastering essential math skills is crucial to success in today's world and the earlier kids are able to do so, the better off they will be in the long run. Whether a child will be a doctor, teacher, engineer or construction worker, he or she needs a minimum level of math skills. It is possible for kids to learn not only to not hate math, but to love, appreciate, and use it effectively as a tool throughout their entire lives.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
