Even though Sean was always good at math, he doesn’t believe he was different from any other student. He wasn’t born good at math, but rather learned how to be better at math through practice. With the support and enough practice, any kid can master math and have fun doing it! Sean is a sophomore at Chaffey College pursuing a degree in Computer Science/ Game Development and will transfer in fall 2022. His dream is to merge his love of video games, math, and coding into a career developing video games that will hopefully help the next generation. Sean’s favorite part of teaching math is seeing the excitement in his student’s faces when they finally understand something that was giving them trouble. Many times kids will run into a hard problem and shut down or distract themselves. But when they finally understand it they gain a confidence boost that helps them the next time.
Math has always been a favorite subject of Logan Wood. He understands it might not always come easy for some people, and that's why he's here to help! He knows that with dedication and hard work, anyone can understand math. That doesn't mean it can't be fun! To Logan, there's nothing more gratifying than helping a student understand something they need help with. He loves teaching and has an extensive history working with children. He has taught children at Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras, worked with youth in Kenya, and has volunteered with various organizations to help children such as Colonies Holiday Miracles and Project Think, as well as various Vacation Bible Schools. He's excited for the opportunity to continue pursuing his passion to help people, especially with something as important as math. In his free time, Logan is a podcast editor, gamer, and is working towards a career in Information Technology.
In her senior year at Claremont High School, Kathryn looked to further apply her understanding of math outside of the classroom. With her experience working with children through various extracurricular activities and goals of becoming a pediatrician, she knew that she wanted to continue working with kids. After finding that Mathnasium’s goals aligned with her own, her journey with the Mathnasium team began. Committed to strengthening students' understanding and relationships with math, Kathryn looks forward to seeing every student grow over time as they absorb new concepts and ideas while overcoming challenges. Beyond her goal of building relationships with every student, she hopes to enhance their confidence in their math abilities and recognize the fun in math. Outside of Mathnasium, Kathryn can be found listening to music, running, or playing a little too much sudoku in her free time. She actively volunteers through clubs on campus and enjoys being a staff in her school newspaper, the Wolfpack. Before heading off to college, she records and treasures every moment spent with family and friends. As time progresses, she looks forward to all of the adventures that the future holds.
