Brendan has been with Mathnasium since 2015. When Brendan was a student at Windward Community College, he was a college math tutor for courses such as foundational mathematics up to trigonometry, including the level 100 classes and calculus. As a 2009 graduate of Damien Memorial School, he spent all his high school years on the math team, competing in the Oahu Math League, and took AP Calculus in his junior year. He enjoys spending his free time playing video games, eating, and occasionally walking around town. “I may be odd, but I still can count even numbers.” .
Salena currently attends the University of Portland in Oregon, working towards an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in biology and minor in communications. I was previously an education major, but I realized in order to teach about the environment, I need to be an expert in it first! I was named a commended student in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program; and I’ve always loved math and the sciences. Salena states that Tutoring at Mathnasium has been an amazing opportunity to foster her appreciation of STEM in others.
Joe Has been with Mathnasium since March of 2022. Joe says "Maths has always been an unavoidable curricula in my scholarship development and formation."

Donell has been with Mathnasium of Waialae since April of 2023. He is also a Professor at Hawaii Pacific University teaching College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Math for Decision Making, and Elementary Statistics.He has recieved a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Sto. Tomas, Manila, Philippines and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines, Quezon City, Philippines.
Romino is currently pursuing a my undergraduate’s Bachelor’s of science in Chemistry. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do for a career, hopping around from major to major. I have finally set my goal on getting into pharmacy school. Aside from education I love fishing and cooking. Sometimes I like to do catch and cook as well.
Dillon has always been interested in furthering his career in educating children especially in math ever since he was young. To achieve such a dream he took every AP and honors class he could. He is currently going to attend UH to study child education to become a teacher.
Abby attends the University of Hawaii, majoring in marine biology. She recently moved here from Maryland after knowing that Hawaii was the place she wanted to live. She was a member of the math honor society in high school and enjoys helping other people better understand math and hopefully grow a passion for it like she has herself. In her free time, Abby enjoys relaxing at the beach and spending time with her friends and family.
Daniel participated in mathletics for all of his middle school years, and graduated from Brown University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in environmental engineering. During summers he would help run various kids programs, including HPA’s residential summer school program and Kahilu Theater’s Kids’ Performing Arts Workshop, both on the Big Island. Working at Mathnasium since August of 2024 has been a wonderful opportunity for him to refamiliarize himself with core math concepts and to connect with kids and peers of all ages over math and problem solving.
