Amy Becker

Owner
Prior to opening her first Mathnasium center in 2018, Amy worked as a mathematics teacher. She has a BA in Elementary Education from Carthage College and a MA in Gifted Education from Northeastern Illinois University. As a Wauconda alum, Amy is enthusiastic about helping every child in the community to truly understand math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them. She has taught and tutored children of all ages, and she is committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method to the children in the Wauconda area. "As a public educator for the past 13 years, I have seen how easy it is for students to fall behind and not always get the help they need. I often see parents at a loss of how to help their child because math is taught so differently from when they were in school. Mathnasium allows me to give each student the individualized attention they need as soon as they walk through my door. I couldn't stand the thought of leaving public education and not helping children anymore. Now, I'm able to help each child in exactly the way they need. I still get the pleasure of working with children each day and seeing their successes. This truly gives me the best of both worlds!"

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
