Benson Phung

Instructor
Hi there! My name is Benson Phung and I am currently studying physics at UCI. Math is an imperative skill that I believe every student should succeed in. Whether it be calculating change at a restaurant to finding the tangent line of a curve, math has wide applications for both general use in life and advanced. As someone who had a hard time initially in becoming enthusiastic about math, and STEM in general, Mathnasium has shown me that they are committed to not only help students become efficient at math, but also motivate students with the subject. I want to do the best I can to help students improve and hone their mathematical thinking and skills and find enjoyment, and the methods that Mathnasium employ like Socratic thinking are pedagogical techniques I believe help facilitate this. When I’m not studying for university, I enjoy hiking at the beach or mountains, cooking, and listening to a variety of music.

Duy Nguyen

Assistant Center Director
Hi there, my name is Duy Nguyen and I studying at CSUF working towards a degree in Computer Engineering. I firmly believe that math is the backbone of many aspects of life, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making. That's why I am passionate about teaching math using the Mathnasium method, which has a proven track record of helping students of all ages and levels improve their math skills. In addition to my academic background, I have a few interesting hobbies and extracurriculars. For one, I love playing board games with friends and family. There's nothing quite like the feeling of strategizing and outsmarting your opponents! When I'm not busy with teaching, I enjoy watching basketball and football. I find it inspiring to see how the athletes on the court or field work together to achieve a common goal. Overall, I am excited to continue sharing my love of math with others and helping them reach their full potential.

Alex Que

Instructor

Hi! My name is Alex and I’m currently a student at UC Irvine aiming for a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. I’m also involved in the CalTeach program at UCI because I hope to become a high school math teacher. My biggest academic hobby right now is learning abstract mathematics. Unlike other math such as algebra or calculus, abstract math is more of an art form: You develop an appreciation and passion for the concepts and learning process rather
than the “doing” of the math itself. Nevertheless, I’m also very eager to teach algebra and calculus (I grew up with them after all!). When I’m not being a hardcore math nerd, I’m either on my phone catching up on the latest memes and internet lingo or playing video games.

Nathan Delgadio

Instructor

My name is Nathan. I am currently attending Cypress College working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering. I play the flute, piccolo, and piano. I love composing my music and playing video games in my free time.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
