Academically Speaking, the 'COVID Slide' Could Be a Lot Worse Than You Think

Apr 17, 2020

Many kids will lose the equivalent of a WHOLE GRADE level worth of math skills because of the “COVID-Slide.” While we see a slide every Summer, research by NWEA says the impact to student learning is expected to be more devastating for kids!

If students return to school campuses in the fall without continuity of instruction during the closures, they could retain only 70 percent of their reading progress, compared to a normal year.

And Math looks worse with students projected to lose anywhere from half of their academic growth from the last year!

At Mathnasium, we’ve shifted our teaching online with the most sophisticated platform available! With Mathnasium@home, your child is sitting ‘live’ with our math experts using individualized instruction and our renowned customized learning plans. Our in-center success has been replicated to assure that each child advances in their math learning journey at the pace they need to maximize their growth –helping kids stay on grade level and even getting ahead through this crisis.

During these tough times, Mathnasium is committed to keeping our children’s learning on track through the balance of this school year. Call us to learn how we can help your child stay successful in their math learning.
