Chris is the Center Director at Mathnasium of West Knoxville. He earned his degree in Education from UNC-Charlotte and has been teaching in the Knoxville area since 1997. Chris is passionate about education and especially loves seeing the “aha moments” when students truly understand a concept.
With three children in local schools, Chris understands the challenges students face and is committed to helping them succeed in math. Outside the center, he enjoys watching baseball and hockey and spending time with his family.
Jennifer earned her degree in Christian Education from Biblical Life College and Seminary and has over 30 years of teaching experience. She taught math for 13 years in Vermont and 18 years at international Christian schools in South Korea and China.
Jennifer loves working with students of all ages and helping those who struggle with math discover new ways to succeed. She brings care and creativity to every session, making math more accessible and even fun for her students.
Audrey was born in Knoxville and will attend the University of Tennessee to study Biological Sciences and Public Health. She hopes to become a pathologist and conduct hands-on research in the future.
In addition to her academic interests, Audrey enjoys weightlifting, hiking, tennis, reading, and cooking. She believes mistakes are a part of learning and enjoys helping students grow more confident in math through practice and positive support.
Harper is a Knoxville native who plans to study Applied Mathematics at the University of Tennessee. She has loved math for as long as she can remember and enjoys sharing that passion with students.
In her free time, Harper plays competitive bridge, a game she’s enjoyed since she was 10. She also loves baking, reading, and spending time with friends, and she brings her enthusiasm and focus to every student session.
Ben grew up in Chicago and moved to Tennessee before high school. He is studying Mathematics with a teaching concentration at the University of Tennessee and hopes to become a teacher.
Ben enjoys rollerblading, reading, hiking, and competing in puzzle tournaments, including the World Sudoku and Puzzle Championships. He loves hearing students say, “I wish they taught it this way in school,” and is committed to helping them enjoy and succeed in math.
Janey was born and raised in Knoxville and will graduate from Bearden High School in May 2025. After graduation, she plans on studying biology and pre-med at Milligan University with a minor in Biblical studies. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, hanging out with friends, and learning! She loves working with kids and helping make math fun!
Kayla is from Nashville and is a student at the University of Tennessee. She is pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering with a focus on prosthetic and implant design. After graduation, she hopes to enter the field of prosthetic research and design. Outside of school and research, Kayla enjoys spending time with friends and family, and in the kitchen. Her favorite activities include baking, reading, and, of course, cheering on the Volunteers!
Katie graduated from Cookeville High School in May of 2024. Now, she is studying Social Work with a minor in Spanish at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She plans to become a Social Worker when she graduates and continue to help kids of all ages just like she is doing at Mathnasium. In her free time, Katie enjoys anything outdoors, especially tennis and pickleball.
Marc was born in Mid-Michigan and is currently attending the University of Tennessee to study Aerospace Engineering. He enjoys both learning math in his engineering courses and teaching math with all of the students at the center. His favorite thing about instructing is watching the students grow more confident in their skills throughout each session. Outside of academics he enjoys hammocking, being outdoors, and following his favorite sports teams. He also enjoys road trips and spending time with friends and family.
