Tim is the Owner of Mathnasium of West Lexington, bringing over 27 years of high school math teaching experience. He’s passionate about helping kids grow in confidence and capability through the Mathnasium Method™, which he believes gives every child the tools to succeed.
Tim and his wife, Jessica, have two daughters who attend Mathnasium and love seeing their progress The Scifres family has called Lexington home for over 12 years and is excited to keep investing in this wonderful community. Go Cats!
Sandy is the Center Director at Mathnasium of West Lexington. Her diverse background includes running Head Start Centers, teaching at the Salvation Army, and working in real estate—all experiences that fuel her passion for helping kids grow. Sandy is dedicated to building students’ confidence and helping them become masters of math.
Married for 23 years, she has two children: one a college senior and the other a hockey player in New Hampshire. Outside of Mathnasium, she enjoys cooking and trying new foods.
Jessica is the Assistant Center Director at Mathnasium of West Lexington, where she helps keep daily operations running smoothly. From organizing materials to supporting instructors, Jess ensures every session is set up for success.
As a mom of two Mathnasium students, she sees firsthand how the program transforms confidence and skills. With her strong organizational skills and passion for helping kids, Jess plays a vital role in supporting students’ learning journeys and making the center a warm, welcoming space for families.
Amora is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky pursuing dual degrees in Business Management and Computer Engineering. She aspires to become a lawyer in the Marine Corps.
Amora brings unique skills to Mathnasium, including martial arts and programming, and loves helping kids discover that math can be both fun and empowering. She works to inspire confidence and a growth mindset in every student she teaches.
Andrew loves teaching math. He has a Bachelor in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in teaching. His career goal is to become a high school math teacher.
Chris is a sophomore at UK, studying computer science. He has always enjoyed math and can play the saxophone and is a self proclaimed Connect-4 champion. He would like to have a job in software development when he graduates from college. Chris has a passion to help children enjoy and understand math better.
Daniel is a junior in the MSTC program at Paul Laurence Dunbar high school. He loves learning new things and aspires to become a surgeon in the future. His aim is to help students understand math in a way so that they can experience just how fun and engaging it can be.
Gracie is a senior at the University of Kentucky studying Civil Engineering with hopes to get into urban planning when she graduates. She has always had an interest in math, and helping students learn to enjoy math at Mathnasium has inspired her to pursue a math minor. Other than tutoring math, Gracie enjoys reading, crocheting, and doing anything outdoors!
Katelyn is a Junior at Lafayette High School in the Pre-Engineering and SCAPA program. In her free time she is involved in Theater, Choir, and Speech and Debate. She also loves playing board games and card games. Katelyn would love to be a math teacher in her future and can’t wait to help others love math as much as she does!
Rosie is a junior at BCTC and a member of the Lafayette Dance Team. She has been coming to Mathnasium since she was 7, and when she’s not studying, you can usually find her dancing. Her favorite math joke is: Why was six afraid of seven? Because seven eight nine!
Thomas is a Junior at Dunbar High School. He enjoys playing tennis in his free time. His career goal is to be a programmer. Thomas loves math, and he really enjoys the environment of Mathnasium and working with children to help math make sense to them.
Sophia is a freshman studying Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky. She likes math and working with children to help them love math as well! She enjoys drawing and playing video games.
Clay is a senior at the University of Kentucky and will graduate this May. He really enjoys using his love of math to work with children and help to bring a positive experience! He has a puppy named June, and his favorite number is three, because he was born on the third.
Flora is a sophomore at Lafayette High School. She has danced for eleven years and is a SCAPA/drama major. Flora loves performing in theatre, being outdoors, hanging out with her friends, and animals. She lives with her Dad (Tim), Mom (Jess), little sister (Lily), and her sweet dog Lucy. Flora enjoys math and really loves working with children. And we, (her Dad and Mom) are very happy to have her join us at the center and use her skills to bring a fun and positive experience to those around her!
