Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Hannah

Assistant Center Director/Lead Instructor

Hannah earned her degree in Applied Mathematics from UC San Diego and brings a strong foundation in both math and leadership to her role. Originally from Northern California, she grew up helping her younger siblings with homework, which sparked her interest in teaching.

At Mathnasium, Hannah enjoys guiding students through challenging concepts and helping them discover that math can be fun and rewarding. She and her husband now live in Seattle and enjoy road trips to Oregon, where they visit family and spend time with her aunt’s llamas.

Aiden

Lead Instructor

Aiden is currently studying Anthropology at the University of Washington, with a focus on Bio-cultural and Medical Anthropology. His curiosity and love of learning extend beyond his major to include math and science, subjects he enjoys sharing with students. Aiden uses creative problem-solving techniques to help students feel confident in their math skills.

Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys playing sudoku, board games, and spending time with his dogs. Aiden is dedicated to helping students approach math with curiosity and build the critical thinking skills they need for success.

Francis

Lead Instructor

Francis combines a background in math, history, and performing arts to make learning engaging and meaningful for students. Raised in Seattle by two engineers, he developed a deep appreciation for math early on, whether solving problems, calculating recipes as a chef, or counting beats as a tap dancer.

After studying Math and History in New York City, Francis returned home to share his passion for learning with the community. He believes math is everywhere and enjoys helping students understand its real-world connections and the confidence it can inspire.

Laura

Instructor

Laura moved to Seattle from Ohio in 2024 after earning dual degrees in Economics and Political Science. She currently serves with AmeriCorps in Seattle Public Schools and aspires to become an elementary school teacher. Laura has always enjoyed math and credits her father for helping her discover fun tricks and patterns at a young age.

In college, she grew passionate about how statistics and data analysis can be tools for positive change in communities. In her spare time, Laura enjoys reading, running, and spending time with her cats.

Evan

Instructor

Hello! I’m Evan, I’m a second-year student at UW studying public policy and public health. I grew up going to a STEM-focused high school, and grew to love math and programming, particularly human-centered statistics. In my free time, I play guitar and piano and love all things music. I love pretty much all genres, so don’t be shy to share your song recommendations  with me!

KC

Instructor

I am a graduate of UW with a degree in math. I have taught for many years as a classroom math teacher and I have a passion for helping others with math. In my spare time I love playing scrabble or any other type of word game.

Aleksy

Instructor

Hi, I'm Aleksy, I'm a first year student at UW-Seattle studying engineering (and hoping to go into aerospace!). Math and teaching have always been passions of mine, and I am excited to share my skills and enthusiasm at Mathnasium. Outside of academics, I am training for DI track recruitment to the UW, but I also enjoy training calisthenics and martial arts. In the free time that remains, I like building model rockets, reading and writing poetry!

Eleanor

Instructor

Hi, my name is Eleanor! I am a rising sophomore at St. Olaf College where I am majoring in biology and dance, with a concentration in biomolecular sciences. I worked at the Mathnasium in my last two years of high school, and I am very excited to be back here for the summer! I love working at the Mathnasium because I like finding different ways to think about mathematical concepts. In my free time I like to knit, play board games, and hang out with my dog.

Michael

Instructor

Hello, my name is Michael! I am going into my senior year at Portland State University, and I am majoring in Mathematics! I plan on getting my Master’s degree in education, and going on to become a high school teacher. I have always loved teaching, and I am extremely passionate about math education. Happy to be here at Mathnasium!
