Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Assistant Director
Aaron earned his Bachelors of Science from UCLA as a dual major in Economics and Math. He was an LA City youth swim coach and Mathnasium instructor for several years before becoming Westwood's Assistant Director. In addition to his role at Mathnasium, he is a Teach for America corps member and loves working with children. Aaron has math instruction confidence from younger students up through Calculus and SAT. His favorite quote related to teaching is "Success is the sum of small efforts repeated." When Aaron is not at Mathnasium, he loves to swim, camp, and teach!

Lead Instructor
Jackie is a fourth year UCLA student majoring in Mathematics/Economics. She loves to share her passion for mathematics with all the students she works with. Her main goal at Mathnasium is to help each individual student develop a stronger foundation and understanding of the math and its applications. In her free time, Jackie enjoys watching TV shows and movies, learning new languages, and spending time with family.

Lead Instructor
Meredith is a fourth-year psychology student at UCLA. She started with Mathnasium of Manhattan Beach in October of 2020 and transferred to the Westwood location earlier this year. Meredith enjoys Mathnasium’s positive environment and working with students to strengthen their confidence, both in math and overall. Outside of Mathnasium, Meredith also works in the Brain and Body Lab at UCLA and likes to explore LA, cook for her friends, and dance!

Enayat (Nate)

Enayat received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Sharif University of Technology (Tehran-Iran) in 1976 and has been teaching and tutoring ever since. Throughout his time in Tehran (the capital city of Iran), he focused on math instruction at middle and high school levels. He has gained invaluable experiences regarding communication with his students and their families throughout his career. When Nate is not instructing Mathnasium students, he enjoys hiking, playing soccer, watching television, and reading historical novels.

Anika attends UCLA as a first-year Computer Science major. She loves math, working with children, and the feeling you get after solving a difficult problem! Anika grew up in Salt Lake City and tutored for years in various subjects. When Anika is not working with Mathnasium students, you can find her baking, playing soccer, drinking coffee, or hiking around LA.

Derin is a third-year student at UCLA, pursuing a Mathematics degree with a specialization in computing. Her studies focus on pure mathematics, since she particularly enjoys mathematical theory. She grew up in Westchester, New York and has always had this passion for math and working with kids. When Derin is not at Mathnasium, she loves to travel, hike, and swim.

In her free time, Elise loves to dance, cook, do photography, and spend time with her friends and family.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
