For the past 15+ years, I’ve worked as an educator in the U.S. and abroad, including in Africa and the UAE, supporting students as a social, emotional, academic, university, career, and well-being counselor. I’m passionate about partnering with children and families to provide thoughtful, individualized support through counseling, advocacy, and strategic planning.
I hold bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Mount Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Science in Educational Counseling from National University in Los Angeles, and I’ve continued my education through doctoral-level coursework in Clinical Psychology. I’m also a proud mom of three adult children, which deeply shapes how I approach working with students and families. I’m excited to build on Mathnasium of Westwood’s strong legacy in the West Los Angeles area and remain committed to our mission of Changing Lives Through Math.
Sofia has been the Assistant Center Director at Westwood for over 2 years. She recently graduated from CSU Long Beach, earning a B.A. in Political Science. Sofia has loved math since high school where she passed AP Calculus AB and BC. In her free time, she likes to figure skate and watch baseball!
Enayat received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Sharif University of Technology (Tehran-Iran) in 1976 and has been teaching and tutoring ever since. Throughout his time in Tehran (the capital city of Iran), he focused on math instruction at middle and high school levels. He has gained invaluable experiences regarding communication with his students and their families throughout his career. When Nate is not instructing Mathnasium students, he enjoys hiking, playing soccer, watching television, and reading historical novels.
My name is Jon Trujillo. I grew up in Glendora, CA, and attended UCLA, where I double majored in Biochemistry and Psychobiology with a minor in Science Education. My goal is to become a doctor and eventually practice pediatrics or psychiatry. I have tutored since high school and have held professional teaching positions at UCLA and other private education companies over the past few years. I've been with Mathnasium since 2023 and have loved serving the Westwood community because our students always show up with the biggest personalities and make each lesson uniquely memorable.
Jonathan Diaz is a medical student from Burbank, California, currently attending the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He graduated from USC, where he earned a bachelor’s in Human Biology and a master’s in Global Medicine. During his time at USC, he worked as a tutor through USC ReadersPlus, providing individualized instruction in math and reading to K-5 students. Jonathan is interested in becoming a physician, specializing in pediatrics, internal medicine, or dermatology. Outside of medicine and Mathnasium, he enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures, having visited 17 countries and counting. Some of his favorite destinations include South Korea, Brazil, and the Netherlands.
Hello! My name is Jonathan Pilares and I'm from Whittier, CA. I attended UCLA where I majored in Economics and Anthropology and I recently graduated in June of 2026. I've been with Mathnasium for 3 years and have worked with numerous students and topics ranging from K-12. I hope to use my tutoring experience from Mathnasium and from my private tutoring experience (7th-12th grade) to become a community college professor in Math, Economics, or Accounting (not sure yet which one). I really enjoy building relationships with the students at Mathnasium and watching them become better and more confident in math and in themselves.
My name is Aidan Jardine. I am a student at UCLA majoring in biology with the goal of becoming a physician in the future. I have previous experience as a freelance mathematics tutor, remote learning tutor, and a summer camp instructor. My favorite part about working at Mathnasium is being able to help students improve and understand challenging mathematical concepts.
Samantha Joy earned Associate’s Degrees in Mathematics and Social and Behavioral Sciences with high honors from Las Positas College in Livermore, CA. For two years, she was a college tutor in the subjects: mathematics, physics, and computer science. At the same time, she served K-12 students in the Bay Area, as a Kumon Assistant Instructor and Afterschool Recreational Teacher.
She is pursuing a B.S. Applied Mathematics, Education Studies minor at UCLA. Samantha Joy is passionate about equity in STEM education, she believes every student can be successful with the right instruction. As an aspiring educator, she will pursue graduate studies and become a mathematics professor. When Samantha Joy is not at Mathnasium, she trains her dog, plays guitar, and competes in a bowling league.
Hi! My name is Daniela, and I’m originally from Portland, Oregon. I’m currently in my fourth year at UCLA studying Computational and Systems Biology. I have experience tutoring math and science, and I really enjoy helping students build confidence in their academic abilities. I also was an Instructor at the Mathnasium of Pleasant Hills! One thing I love about Mathnasium and working with kids is seeing the excitement on their faces when they finally understand a concept. It feels rewarding to be part of their learning journey!
Hi! My name is Athena and I am a student at UCLA studying Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. After my undergrad, I hope to get a PhD in something related to immunology or virology. I am from Manhattan Beach, CA but grew up for the first ten years of my life in Westwood! In high school, I was a music mentor for fourth and fifth grade students at my local elementary schools and a coach for three U10 girls soccer AYSO teams. My favorite part of Mathnasium is interacting with the students and my fellow instructors, and witnessing students who don’t know each other become fast friends over the course of an hour of math!
Hi! My name is Olivia Yoshizaki, and I’m from Los Angeles, California. I’m a second-year Biochemistry major and Mathematics minor at UCLA with experience tutoring students in math and science through private tutoring, interning at The Garden Church, and working at Mathnasium. I love working with students, and my favorite thing to do at Mathnasium is the monthly Fun Calendar!
Hi! I’m Jessica Odonchimeg, a junior at UCLA studying Computer Science and Engineering. I’m originally from the Bay Area and previously worked as an instructor at Mathnasium of Alameda. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence in their math skills and creating a positive, encouraging learning environment. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing volleyball, cooking, and spending time with my friends!
Hi! My name is Emily Song, and I'm from Irvine, California. I'm currently majoring in Business Economics at UCLA, and I hope to become a professor/teacher in the future. Throughout high school I've worked in a number of positions involving education, including leading monthly workshops on financial literacy and entrepreneurship, tutoring kids with autism, serving as a Peer Tutor in school, and working at Kumon. As someone who grew up going to Mathnasium, I've always loved the uniquely fun energy this workplace brings to both its employees and students.
