Sean Fanning

Hi, I'm Sean! I hold a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from UW-Milwaukee, and have extensive experience tutoring math at all levels, from elementary school to college. As the Education Director at Mathnasium of Whitefish Bay, I'm passionate about helping students discover the deeper connections and patterns that make math both fascinating and rewarding.Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, rock climbing, cooking, swing dancing, and spending time at the beach. I'm excited to share my love of math with the students at Mathnasium and help them reach their full potential!

Rohita Shah

Hello! I'm the proud owner of Mathnasium of Whitefish Bay. Before starting this center in 2015, I worked as a Project Associate for the American Orthopaedic Association and also conducted research in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center. I hold a Master’s degree in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois. As a parent, I experienced both the challenges and rewards of helping my children succeed in math through the Mathnasium Method. This has fueled my passion for helping every child understand math in a way that makes sense to them and I'm deeply committed to bringing the benefits of the Mathnasium to our local community. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Indigo

Hi! I’m Indigo, the Administrative Manager at Mathnasium of Whitefish Bay. I like math because it’s very straightforward, and once you get the hang of it, it can be fun. I love my job at Mathnasium because while I don’t teach the students, I enjoy seeing the smiles on the kids' faces after a good session and hearing about what they learned during their time in the center. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, exploring the city with my sister and friends, and playing video games. I’m happy to be a part of the Whitefish Bay team and I look forward to helping the kids enjoy their time at Mathnasium!

Hi! I'm Olivia and I am a senior at Marquette University. I love to travel, spend time with friends and family and play soccer. Since I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for math. Being able to help kids improve their math skills and work with them daily is such a reward!

Lauren

Hello! My name is Lauren and I am an instructor here at the Mathnasium. I am currently a senior at UW-Milwaukee pursuing my bachelors degree in secondary education - science. Hopefully that means one day I'll be teaching high school biology! In my free time I enjoy having game nights with my roommates and spending time with our cat, Jack. I also like to spend time playing my cello, guitar or ukulele. I am looking forward to my time at the Mathnasium and helping some cool kiddos get really good at math.

Seth

Hello! My name is Seth. I am a Lead Instrctor for Mathnasium of Whitefish Bay. I'm excited to be a part of a team dedicated to helping your student grow in their expertise in and love of math! I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Minnesota State University Moorhead, spending three years in my undergraduate career tutoring mathematics at the college level, before pursuing a career in finance. I moved to Milwaukee recently from North Dakota, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to make an impact on my new community by spreading the love of math! I know that math can be challenging, and I will do my best to demystify the subject for your student, develop your student's problem solving skills, and direct your student towards the answer to the age-old question: "When am I going to use this?" When I'm not at Mathnasium, I enjoy swimming, walking my corgi, spending time with family and exploring Milwaukee. I look forward to working with you and your student!

Ann Yurkowitz

Welcome! I’m Ann Yurkowitz, the Educational Outreach Coordinator for Mathnasium of Whitefish Bay. I have a passion and love for teaching and mentoring students. As the Center Director at the Mathnasium of Brookfield for four years and Whitefish Bay for another 4 years, I had the privilege of creating a welcoming learning environment where students successfully built math skills and fostered a love of math! After learning about the Mathnasium Method from my sons who were energetic Mathnasium instructors, I knew Mathnasium was the perfect home for me. As I settle into my new role, I'll continue to work on developing partnerships within our community and with our schools. Mathnasium is meaningful to me because students make impressive gains in math, but also improve self-confidence, homework habits, and attitudes toward school. I graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a degree in Elementary Education and spent 26 years teaching in the classroom. When I’m not at Mathnasium, I enjoy riding my Cruiser bike, playing cards, and traveling with my family.

Amy Knox

I am thrilled to be back in Whitefish Bay serving as the Community Outreach Director. For 12 years I taught at Richard's Elementary School as a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade teacher. I also started the Richard's Running Club and a 4th grade Writing Club. Prior to teaching, I was the Director of Graduate Admissions at Cardinal Stritch University. So, in 2018 I decided to go back to Higher Education and worked at Mount Mary University for 2 years. Now, I am back in Whitefish Bay and feel at home. My family consists of my husband, Ken, and my two boys, Calvin and Jacob. Calvin lives and works in Chicago, and Jacob is graduating from UW-Whitewater with a double major.

Hello! My name is Jon and I am an instructor here at Mathnasium. I retired after 31 great years of teaching middle and high school math and computers here in the Milwaukee area. It’s been outstanding working with so many enjoyable, diverse students over the years, and I'm excited to be at Mathnasium, continuing to help youth discover the wonderful world of mathematics. It’s gratifying to see their faces light up as they move beyond the basics to make higher-level connections and find new ways to apply their knowledge, along the way increasing confidence levels in their math abilities. In my free time I very much enjoy hiking & biking, skiing & snowboarding, and camping & traveling with family and friends. I look forward to helping the spirited students of the community find success here at Mathnasium!

Julia

Hi! I’m Julia and I recently graduated from Northwestern University where I majored in Environmental Science and Classics with a Latin focus and I'm currently studying to take my actuarial exams. Math has always been so fun for me and I am excited to share that sentiment with the students at Mathnasium. Outside of math, I enjoy doing art, specifically oil painting, printmaking, and photography. I also enjoy traveling and learning about other cultures, especially through cuisine, so I am always cooking and baking new recipes. I look forward to working with everyone at Mathnasium!

Hi! My name is John, and I am glad to be working at Mathnasium. I retired after 42 years as an IT Specialist at UWM. Before that, I studied to be a math teacher, and I believe that Mathnasium has given me a second chance to do that! I love the students and my coworkers here. In my spare time, I love to play chess and table tennis!

Hey there! My name is Reilly and I am a recent graduate of Lake Forest College with a bachelor's in Psychology. I've had an affinity for math since I was a kid, and I love to help others! In my spare time, I love reading more about psychology, and playing games with friends! I am thrilled to be working with you!

Hi! My name is Eitan and I attend Nicolet High School. I'm a Mathnasium instructor because I've always loved helping and teaching others. In my free time I play sports, like basketball and volleyball, as well as hang out with my friends. At my school, I participate in various other extracurriculars such as my school's robotics team and our Hebrew Club. I'm super excited to start working with everyone!

Hello! My name is Gillian, and I attend DSHA. As an instructor, I really enjoy working at Mathnasium because every day is different. I get to impact the days of new kids each time I work as I help them become confident in their math skills. Math is my favorite subject, and I hope one day I can work in the medical field. Some other hobbies I enjoy are skiing and playing lacrosse for my high school.

Tim

I’m Tim, and I am a high school English teacher. Yes, that’s right! I am an English teacher who adores numbers! I have been teaching English in the Milwaukee area since 1988 and tutoring since 2008. As a tutor, I have coached middle school students to improve their executive functioning skills, helped so many high school students with their literary analysis and research assignments, AP preparation, and all five sections of the ACT, including the math section. I have also tutored university students and helped future doctors with their medical school applications. Now, I will be helping students appreciate the magic, the beauty, and the creativity of mathematics! I am thrilled to be joining the team here in Whitefish Bay!

Hi! My name is Giovanna and I attend Nicolet High School. I am in extracurriculars at school including Best Buddies and Feed the Need, and apart from that I like to play tennis, hang out with my friends, and listen to music. Math has always been a passion of mine and I am so excited to share that here at Mathnasium. I am so excited to work with the students!

Hello! My name is Broc and I am an instructor for the Mathnasium in Whitefish Bay. I have recently earned a B.S. in Architectural Engineering with a structural speciality and I am pursuing a Master's in the same field. Although it feels good to be an engineer, I'm probably best described as an all-around nerd. In my free time, I enjoy learning about new things, trivia, and playing sports. I always look forward to working with the students, and getting them as excited about math as I am!

Hi! I'm Molly. I graduated with a degree in Education Studies from UW-Madison. I absolutely love math and learning - you can often find me doing math problems for fun. I enjoy being outside, reading, and watching movies. I’m very passionate about helping others learn, especially when it comes to math, so I’m very excited to be part of the Mathnasium team!

Rich

Hi! My name is Rich and I'm an instructor at Mathnasium of Whitefish Bay. I worked for 35 years as an actuary, consulting to the largest companies in the country. I also tutor adult students toward their GED through Literacy Services of Wisconsin. I love working with kids to help them learn math to be successful in school and beyond. I especially like teaching math tricks and the unique Mathnasium approach that gives students a clearer understanding of how to solve math problems. I graduated from the UW - Madison with a degree in Actuarial Science. I have always loved math and knew this was the right field for me very early in life. My two sons are very strong in math, and I’m proud they were also Mathnasium instructors. In my spare time, I like reading, cycling, and volleyball. I have lived in Wisconsin most of my life and am a diehard Packers, Brewers, and Badgers fan!

Hi!! My name is Jenny and I attend Whitefish Bay High School. Math has always been a favorite subject of mine, and I am so grateful to be able to share that love with others! Outside of Mathnasium, I love playing volleyball, spending time with friends and family, and going to the beach. I am so excited to be a part of this community!

Hi, I’m Will and I attend Whitefish Bay High School. I have always enjoyed math, as well as working with others, and working at Mathnasium has been a great way to do both! I love being able to work with kids and share my passion for math with them. I also play golf and downhill ski for my school, and am in Spanish Club and Best Buddies.

My name is Owen, and I attend Whitefish Bay High School. Math has always been my favorite subject in school, and I have been lucky to have great, inspiring math teachers who have made math accessible and fun. Outside of school, I really enjoy playing competitive soccer and being active outdoors, including hiking and going on canoe wilderness trips in northern Minnesota and Canada. I love to travel, especially to Spanish-speaking countries where I can practice my Spanish and broaden my horizons. I am so excited to pursue my passion for math by working at Mathnasium!

Hi! My name is Leora and I attend Brookfield Academy. I’ve always had a passion for math and I’m very excited to be working with kids at Mathnasium. Outside of Mathnasium I enjoy spending time outside with my friends and family, traveling, and walking my dog to the lake. I play soccer, softball, and I run cross country at Brookfield Academy.

Hi! I'm Stella and I attend Shorewood High School. I've always loved math and I've recently found that I enjoy working with and teaching kids. I spend a lot of my free time outside and I teach youth sailing lessons during the summer. Some of my hobbies are theater tech, rock climbing, mountain biking, and camping. I'm super excited to be working at Mathnasium!

Hello! I’m Katherine attending Shorewood High School. Math is a subject I’ve always had to work hard at, but I’ve grown to love it and I now am passionate about math. I love teaching kids and working with others, so I am very fortunate to be a member of the Mathnasium team to share my love of math! Hi, I’m Owen and I go to Whitefish Bay High School. I have always enjoyed math and working with others so Mathnasium is a great way to do both! I have always been lucky to have teachers that make math interesting and fun. I hope that I can inspire kids to want to learn more and have a passion for math as well. Some of my interests outside of school include fishing, golfing, and spending time with my family and friends. I also love to travel, especially to places with different cultures so I can learn more about how different people live all over the world! Hi! My name is Hannah and I attend Nicolet High School. My favorite subjects in school are biology, chemistry, and math. I really want to go into biomedical research when I am older and help others. I play tennis and lacrosse through my school, love to do art, and hangout with my friends. I also love puzzles and problem solving. I am so excited to work at Mathnasium and help students with math!

Hi! My name is Liam, and I attend Whitefish Bay High school. In addition to working at Mathnasium, I love to go camping, play soccer, and spend time with family and friends. I recently graduated University of WIsconsin-Milwaukee with a Mathematical Science bachelor's degree. My favorite parts of college were the classes involving food, being part of math club, and my professors. If there was a way to add a food science minor to my degree, I must have been a few credits short of it. During my free time I enjoy cooking, baking , and watching movies. My favorite pastry to bake are chocolate chunk brown butter cookies.
