Henry (Bhone) Kyaw

Assistant Center Director

Hello, I'm Bhone Kyaw, call me Henry! I'm a student at Brooklyn College (CUNY), majoring in Information Systems with a minor in Data Science. Originally from Yangon, Myanmar, I now call Brooklyn home. Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, collecting watches & HotWheels, taking long walks, and playing pool. I am dedicated to providing personalized care and attention to each student, tailored to meet their individual needs.

Growing up with a strict approach to math, I wanted to help create a more positive experience for students. My belief is that education is for everyone, and that with the right support with confidence, anyone can excel. I want our students to see math not just as problems and numbers, but as a fascinating world, full of numerical possibilities! I'm excited to be part of a program that embraces this philosophy, and I'm proud to represent Mathnasium of Williamsburg!

Mia Talkovsky

Lead instructor

Hi, my name is Mia! I am an NYU student pursuing my Master’s Degree and teaching certification in Art Education. I love working with young learners, and I’m thrilled to bring my teaching and tutoring experience along with my passion for learning to Mathnasium! In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, including running, hiking, and going to the beach. Whether I’m on a tough hike or working through challenging math problems with students, I bring a positive attitude, persistence, and plenty of encouragement to the task at hand.

Bill Marcy

Instructor

HI! I’m Bill! I hold a degree in philosophy from Brown University. I used to work as a software engineer, but I’ve always had a passion for education, working as a TA in the computer science department and as a tutor in New York City. I love to take an inquisitive approach with students to foster a genuine understanding of math material. I believe math is for everyone, if they’re given the tools they need!

In my free time, I love to watch great movies, and as a creative outlet, I make music and video games. When the weather’s nice, I love taking long walks in Prospect Park!

Kaitlin McConnon

Instructor

Hi, I’m Kaitlin! I’m a NYC-native, and I recently graduated from RPI with my Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and my Master's in Systems Engineering. I love fostering students' natural curiosity and creating a space where they feel safe asking questions, exploring how things work, and building confidence in their problem-solving abilities. Math has opened so many doors in my life, and I’m excited to share that passion to encourage students, helping them realize just how capable they are. Outside of Mathnasium, I love all types of crafting, traveling, and volunteering with my local community.

Jared Todd

Instructor

Hi, my name is Jared! I’m currently a senior at the Bronx High School of Science. I’ve always had a passion for math– solving problems feels like working through a puzzle, and figuring out the solution is always rewarding. At Mathnasium, I’m excited to share that love of math with others and help students build confidence and enjoy learning. I want to make math feel less intimidating and more fun. Outside of school and work, I enjoy watching soccer (go Man City!), playing tennis, and volunteering at a local food pantry and soup kitchen.

Ajwad Raed

Instructor

Hello! I'm Ajwad, and I'm a student at Brooklyn College, majoring in Physics and Theoretical Mathematics. From a young age, I liked to learn math on my own from Khan Academy and YouTube. During my high school years, I loved to compete in Science Olympiad and math tournaments. Since then, I have had a passion to educate others. I want to make math approachable and fun for students of all ages. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, spending time with my family, and doing math for fun!
