Travis has worked with Mathnasium since 2013 and joined the Woodbury location in 2020. He has also managed multiple centers and collaborated with Mathnasium HQ to field-test new curriculum and assessment projects. Prior to Mathnasium, he earned a degree in Chemistry with a minor in Secondary Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
After teaching middle and high school science, Travis moved to Minnesota to continue his passion for education. He looks forward to meeting each student and helping them achieve their math goals with the Mathnasium Method™.
Sydney has been helping Mathnasium students catch up, keep up, and get ahead since 2022. She is a student at Macalester College, double majoring in Spanish and History, and graduated from the Math and Science Academy in Woodbury.
Her favorite part of Mathnasium is seeing students go from struggling to mastering a concept. Sydney especially enjoys working with trig identities, which she sees as puzzles that require creative thinking. Outside of Mathnasium, she crochets and sews, even making her own prom dress from scratch.
Jim lives in Lake Elmo and is retired from a 38-year career in engineering. He enjoys working at Mathnasium because every math problem has a clear answer, free of subjectivity.
Outside of the center, Jim is a ski instructor at Afton Alps and often works on projects at his family cabin. Both activities give him the chance to apply math in real-world situations, which he shares with his students to make learning more relatable.
Bhavya is a full-time PSEO student at the University of Minnesota and hopes to enter a pre-med program. She enjoys solving the puzzles that math problems present and helping students experience the same satisfaction.
When a concept finally clicks for a student, she feels their success is her success. Outside of Mathnasium, Bhavya practices taekwondo and holds a second-degree black belt, demonstrating the discipline and dedication she brings to teaching.
Katherine is a PSEO student at Mahtomedi High School with interests in studying Architecture or Animal Science in college. She values math for its definitive answers and enjoys watching students grow in skill and confidence.
Outside of work, Katherine’s biggest hobby is riding and caring for her horse, Dream, an 8-year-old Morgan she rides competitively across the country. She brings that same commitment and focus to her work with Mathnasium students.
Lavinia is from Cottage Grove and is passionate about being a better instructor to help students succeed in Math. She does everything that she can to make a difference and help students have fun during their lessons at Mathnasium. She also enjoys being able to help other neurodivergent students achive their success. When not at Mathnasium, Lavinia enjoys e-biking, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with her friend group.
Andrea is currently studying to obtain a BS in Mathematics from the University of St Thomas and plans to then obtain a teaching liscensure. She loves working with the students at Mathnasium, but her favorite part of math happens to be multi-variable calculus. Each of the problems can be tough, but are all their own puzzle to solve. When not at Mathnasium she enjoys spending time with her dogs and making art!
