Mathnasium #MathTricks: Half of Double Digit Numbers

A trick to make mental math easier is breaking whole numbers down into its parts. We can do this to find half of double digit numbers.

For example, let's find half of 26.

Since 26 is 2 tens (20) and 6 ones (6), we can find half of 26 by finding half of 20 and then half of 6. Half of 20 is 10, and half of 6 is 3, so half of 26 is 10 + 3 = 13.
