Anna-Lena Gruendler, Owner and Center Director

My name is Anna-Lena Gruendler and I am the  owner of Mathnasium of North     Costa Mesa. I am excited to get to know you and your students.

I started working for Mathnasium in 2018. Prior my career at Mathnasium I was a   Business and Mathematics teacher both in Europe and in California. I obtained
my M.A. in Business from University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and my M.A. in   Education from University of California. In addition, I hold teaching credentials.

At Mathnasium, we offer the tools to help young learners improve critical math   skills and understanding, regardless of their current ability level. Me and my team   look forward to working with you and helping to build a successful future for your   child.

 Sahana, Assistant Director

Sahana is in her final year at the University of California, Irvine. She is
studying Business Administration with an   emphasis in Accounting, and   she will be working in Human Resources after graduation. At Mathnasium,
she enjoys being able to help students build their confidence in math and
see how it positively impacts their self esteem overall. She has been with   Mathnasium since 2016, starting as a student and working her way up to
Assistant Director. She strongly belives in the Mathnasium Method and the
impact it can have on lives. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with
friends and family, playing sports, and singing karaoke.

 Jesus, Assistant Director

My name is Jesus Gonzalez I'm 30 years old and I love math. One of the most cherished
memories I have of my grandpa was sitting at his kitchen table while he quizzed me on my
 algebra skills, although I have
considered math to be my strongest subject he was able to stump
 me with his questions.

After high school I studied computer engineering at San Joaquin Delta College and then
University of the Pacific, and hope to continue my studies to eventually become a researcher or
 data scientist.

When I'm not studying math I enjoy soccer, snowboarding, anime, spending time in nature,
 training my dog, and meditation.

Mathnasium of North Costa Mesa is a great atmosphere, energetic, with a common goal of
helping each and every student.

When I see a student struggle with a concept I remember how I felt when my grandpa would quiz me, but he always had a smile on his face and would be patient when teaching. I hope that we can share a little bit of appreciation and joy for learning with our students and they will look back at their time spent at Mathnasium fondly.

Vinod, Instructor

My name is Vinod Vairavaraj, and I am a high school junior at Cypress High School. I used to be a student at Mathnasium and found it to be a great experience. The staff helped me gain a love for mathematics and helped prepare me for school. Wanting to give back, I started to work at Mathnasium to give back and help spread a better understanding of math to our students.

I also enjoy playing sports with my friends and watching movies with my family.

Christina, Instructor

Hello! My name's Christina Mai. I'm a student at California State University, Fullerton. I currently do not have a major, but I am interested in many subjects, like Math, Biology, Graphic Design, and others-it would be a long list if I were to write everything down hehe~

During my free time, I ususally read and play with my dog Mocha! He's a Belgian Malinois- if you don't know what they are, they are those dogs you see in the K9 unit or are the cousins to the German Shepard :)

I am also a sporty person! I love volleyball, snowboarding, hiking, and dancing. I'm also down to learn any new sport!

Efren, Instructor Efren just finished his BS in Math at UCI, Irvine.

Chelsea, Instructor

Hi my name is Chelsea Olivarez and I used to be a Mathnasium student. I just graduated high school and will be attending Chapman University in the fall with a major in Health Sciences.

Math has always been an enjoyable subject for me in school and I've always seen myself working with kids somehwere in the near future. Now I get to do both by working at Mathnasium. As I got older, mathematics didn't get easier so I understand the feeling of struggle that is ocassionally felt when something is not clear. Thus, my goal is to help the students not feel this way by positively impacting their mastery on the subject.

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is dance Folklorico. This style of dance is also known as Mexican Folk Dance and it refers to many traditional dances from Mexico's different states. Performing brings out bursts of energy and is something I truly enjoy because it makes me feel connected to my culture and where my family comes from.

Tri, Instructor

Hi everyone, my name is Tri Nguyen, and I am currently a junior at Garden Grove High School. I have a really strong passion about math. I always like to question why math formulas are the way they are, and I really enjoy helping others and seeing brightened faces when they finally understand a hard problem. That's why I think that Mathnasium at North Costa Mesa is the perfect place for me to help spread my love for math to other students.

In my free time, I also enjoy swimming, running, and playing tennis all day long. On days when I feel like I want to stay at home, I love to watch shows and movies on different streaming services and do more math!

Armaan, Instructor

Armaan is currently working on his BS in Material Engineering at California Polytechnic State University.

Gabriella,  Greeter and Emotional Support Dog

My name is Gabriella and I am a long hair Chihuahua.

At Mathnasium I greet you at the door. I make sure, everyone feels
comfortable by sitting on students' laps or by just being cute.

My favorite geometric shape is the sphere, because I like playing ball.
