Zahra Soniwalla

Instructor
Hi everyone! My name is Zahra and I’ve been an instructor at Mathnasium for five years! I like math because it makes me think outside of the box to come up with solutions to problems. One of my favorite things about working at Mathnasium is watching kids have an ‘a-ha’ moment when they’re working on challenging math problems. As an old Mathnasium student myself, I know how amazing the feeling is. My favorite number is 24 because there are 24 hours in a day, and that’s always enough time to accomplish at least one great thing. It’s also my lucky number! Some fun facts about me are that I was born and raised in Texas (yee-haw), and that I’ve traveled to over 13 different countries!

I like teaching at Mathnasium since I love math, and I get to meet students at different levels and help them wherever they need it with something I love. My favorite number is e, because it has interesting properties and tends to pop up in unexpected places, from compound interest to growing populations!

Joe Temple

Instructor
Math is awesome because no matter how hard the problem, there’s a satisfaction to finding the solution and understanding the ideas behind it. As the questions get more complicated, they become more fun to solve; It’s just like a puzzle. I want to share my passion for math with other students. When I get to see them succeed and begin to proficiently solve problems, it makes me happy. That’s what makes me so dedicated to ensuring a student's success. Before working at Mathnasium, I was a referee for soccer games. Mathnasium is quite a difference, but I do still get to work with kids! When I’m not doing math, I play soccer and chess with my friends. I also love to read novels, preferably classics.

Chethan Karandikar

Instructor
I love math because it's highly logical and objective. Concepts build on each other, from basic arithmetic operations to complex calculus. This structured approach appeals to me because everything in math is connected. I enjoy working at Mathnasium since it's an incredible feeling to watch help students learn math and improve their problem-solving skills. I'm thrilled that I can make a difference in students' academic lives by teaching math. It's a fulfilling job! When I was younger, I was one of the first students at the Mathnasium of Palatine! If I'm not doing math, I'm probably playing chess or hanging out with my friends.

I have always loved math since not only is it an important subject that is used throughout life, but solving math’s complex problems helps build your brain’s critical thinking and logical reasoning skills! I chose to work at Mathnasium since I love math, and I love teaching even more! Mathnasium has a kind, supportive environment, and I believe their rewards and teaching methods are more effective than other tutoring centers I have been at. They value, just as much as I do, spending time with students, and helping them comprehend skills they will utilize for the rest of their lives. A fun fact about me is that I am allergic to pigeons! If I’m not doing math, you’ll usually find me drawing portraits or listening to music. Sometimes both!
