Sharon Palardy, M.Ed., Owner/Center Director
Sharon was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and has been a resident of Hampton Roads since 2001. When Sharon was 14, she begged her parents to volunteer at a local hospital. She knew from an early age that it was her passion to help others. Having studied piano since the age of 8, she decided to combine both her love of music and helping others. She received a music scholarship to Loyola University (New Orleans) where she completed a bachelor's degree in music therapy. Sharon furthered her education by going back to school and receiving her master's degree in special education from the University of New Orleans. After several years of being a Special Education teacher, she decided that she wanted to specialize in teaching students with visual impairments. She has been teaching students with visual impairments now for almost 20 years.
Our personal experience with Mathnasium:
Our daughter began attending a local Mathnasium in September 2017. At that time, we enrolled her due to test anxiety. She would choke up on every timed test that was given to her. The teacher kept telling us that she didn't know her math facts. As parents, we were very frustrated. We were unable to help her on our own. Not only did Mathnasium eliminate her test anxiety but she has now grown into a confident math student and is now excelling in math. Our mission is to help other parents going through the same experience. We've seen first hand how Mathnasium's unique program can help students.

I’ve loved math for as long as I can remember. I’ve been tutoring all levels of math to students of all ages since I graduated high school. I recently received my Associate’s degree in mathematics and currently, I’m a math major at ODU. I am working towards both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mathematics and I am a MonarchTeach student which means I am studying to be a high school math teacher. In my spare time, I like to play the drums and do even more math!
David Barnes received his Bachelor's degree in mathematics with a concentration in nanoscience from Hampton University in May 2019. With a mind for math, he taught himself calculus in high school, and with a desire to inspire others in math, he has been tutoring students in math ranging from elementary and middle school math to calculus and college-level statistics for the last 6 years. His interests include: music, reading, and of course...math!
II am currently a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology majoring in Mechanical Engineering. My passion for math goes as far back as elementary school and I love to help others understand it. In my free time, I like to play soccer and lacrosse, go to the beach, and travel. I hope to work as a Disney Imagineer, designing roller coasters, after graduating college.
I am a recent Virginia Tech graduate with a BS in Agribusiness and a Minor in Economics. Go Hokies! When I go job hunting, I seek positions like this in which I can positively impact my community. Math has always come easy to me and I love learning new things. Ask me about pythagorean theorem proofs! I sincerely hope I can be of service.
I am a Virginia Tech graduate with a BS in Mathematics. When I was young, I did well in my math classes but never really had a big passion for it. However, after taking calculus in high school I saw a glimpse of how beautiful math can really be, and my passion for it started to develop. I even started to teach myself all sorts of interesting mathematics in my spare time just for fun. My hope is that I can help others enjoy and succeed in the subject I love and potentially foster a similar passion for math in others!
