Roel Florentino, Owner, M.Ed.
Credentialed High School Math Teacher
Roel is a credentialed high school math teacher, currently in his 15th year of teaching. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree and Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics from BIOLA University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Specialization in Educational Technology. Roel has a long history in education. He has over 20 years of combined tutoring and teaching experience. He was an AVID Peer tutor as a high school senior. He continued on for four more years as an AVID College Tutor to students in 9th - 12th grades, tutoring math. Roel's deep passion is playing a role in the academic success of each child in order for them to achieve their goals and dreams. Roel believes that education is the key to success in life. Mathnasium is the avenue in which Roel chose to provide that to young children.

Ondre Rissling, Center Director
Ondre is attending California State University Fullerton, where he is pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He plans to get his teaching credential and Master's degree to become a high school math teacher. Ondre has been a tutor since his sophmore year of high school and loves teaching because of the joy that comes with expanding a student's mind.

In five years, I will be: A credentialed math teacher teaching AP Calculus and owner of my own Mathnasium.
I love Mathnasium because: It is by far the best part of every day, especially watching the students as they overcome obstacles and math finally makes sense. Also, I really love how we teach students to be non-routine problem solvers so they can take their new knowledge and apply it wherever they go.
Ken Logan, Instructor
Ken is a Mathematics Instructor at the Secondary College and University levels. He has a Bachelor's of Arts and Master's degree in Mathematics, along with over 20 years of experience in teaching at the high school and college levels. Ken specializes in financial mathematics, statistics, calculus and many other applied mathematical topics but he enjoys teaching all levels.

Grant Roberts, Instructor
Grant is a physics student at Saddleback College and hopes to transfer to UCI to continue his undergraduate degree and eventually move on to a PhD in theoretical physics. He is an avid reader and his favorite book is The Man in the High Castle by Phillip K. Dick. His other hobbies include playing video games and learning history.

Jenny Wang, Instructor
Jenny is a senior at Trabuco Hills High School with a weighted GPA of 4.96, placing her as rank 4 in her class of over 700 and as the highest ranking girl in her grade. She is currently enrolled in 7 AP classes. She is on the board for Mu Alpha Theta, also known as the National Math Honor Society, at her school, where they teach members different types of math beyond what is taught in school. She is also the president of her school's Mock Trial program, where she won an individual award for Outstanding Attorney. She plans on pursuing an undergraduate degree in math.

I love Mathnasium because: The Mathnasium curriculum is individualized to each student, teaching them tricks and tips to solve problems quickly. I wish I learned some of those tricks earlier. I also love how I can form a real connection with every student, watching them grow and improve over time.
AJ Martin, Instructor
AJ recently graduated from Trabuco Hills High School with a combined 4.0 GPA. Math has always been one of his favorite subjects in school, specifically the application of it in classes like AP Physics and ROP Rapid Prototyping. He will be attending Irvine Valley College in the fall to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering and plans to transfer to Northern Arizona University after two years. AJ loves to moutain bike as often as he can and has logged over 1,000 miles in this year alone.

Parth is currently a junior at Tesoro High School and is taking AP Calculus AB. Parth has completed many courses including AP Computer Science Java and is also enrolled in Honors Physics, AP Chemistry, and AP Computer Science Principles. Parth has been honored with many awards including the platinum cat award for best student overall at Arroyo Vista Middle School and a torch of excellence for Spanish at Tesoro High School. His favorite hobbies include listening to music, playing the piano, and watching sports.

Matt Polcyn, Instructor
Matt is an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student at Univeristy of California, Irvine. He recently graduated from Trabucco Hills High School with a weighted 4.5 GPA. His favorite subjects were Calculus and Physics. After tutoring thoughout high school, he could not see a better fit for his first job than Mathnasium. After college he hopes to work in the field of aerospace with a dream job at SpaceX or NASA. His interests include going to the beach and playing video games; even competing in Super Smash Bros tournaments.

Nathan is currently a Junior at Tesoro High School taking AP Calculus AB. Math has always inspired him and has offered a way to observe intricate patterns in our world. Math offers amazing problem solving skills that can be used every day in the real world. Some of Nathans's hobbies include ice hockey, rubik's cubes, and reading!

Emily Ferguson, Instructor
Emily is a senior at Trabuco Hills High School with a current weighted GPA of 4.8, placing her in the top 2.1% of her class. She is currently enrolled in AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science in order to satisfy her love of math. She represented her high school in the American Chemical Society Chemistry Olympiad, and she has scored 4's and 5's on all of the 6 AP tests she has taken. She loves volunteering at her church and local hospital as well as spending time with friends and family. When she is not in school or working, Emily is probably three hours deep into a philosophical conversation about the future of technology.

Samantha Ho, Instructor
Samantha is attending California State University, Long Beach where she is majoring in Business Finance. She is currently enrolled in Statistics and took AP Calculus AB and AP Statistics in High School. Samantha recently graduated Tesoro High School with a weighted 4.2 GPA and was one of the top scholar athletes on the football team. In High School she was Treasurer of the National Honors Society, Co-President for Best Buddies, and was a member of the California Scholarship Federation. Math has always been her favorite subject alongside English Literature. Samantha loves spending her time dancing, reading, and sailing for her University.

Samer Khan, Instructor
Samer is a graduate student at UC Irvine in the Master's in Public Health program and an intern at the OC Health Department. She did her undergraduate at UCI and finished in 2016 with a B.A. in Public Health Policy and a minor in Biology. Over the last 3 years, Samer has worked with students in grades 1 through 12 as a tutor for Chemistry, Math, Biology, and Spanish. During her year before starting grad school, she was a academic advisor for 10th and 12th graders and helped seniors with their university application essays. As a tutor and now Mathnasium Instructor, Samer is passionate about helping students become confident in their academic abilities and reach their full potential in preparation for their college careers and beyond.

Robert Reyes, Instructor
Robert is a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School with a weighted GPA of 4.71. He is taking AP Calculus BS this year, as well as AP Physics C. Robert’s favorite subject in school is and always has been math. Robert was on his middle school’s Academic Decathlon team, and helped guide them to a second place finish. He loves working with kids, and volunteers at a Cub Scout Day Camp every year. Some of his hobbies are playing and watching soccer, following all the major sports leagues, reading, watching movies, and solving rubik’s cubes.

Collin McGregor is going into his senior year at Tesoro High School. He is currently taking Calculus BC and received a 5 on the AP Tests for Calculus AB, Physics C, and Computer Science. Collin also has been playing the piano for 13 years and has received multiple awards for prestigious pianists through the CM and young jazz musicians programs. He has been tutoring math since his freshman year in high school and loves working with kids and helping them to become the best mathematicians that they can be. Some of his hobbies include running, surfing, playing the piano, and spending time with family.

Luke Schroeder, Instructor
Luke is a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. Luke is currently taking AP Calculus AB and AP Physics C, and is also part of the IB full diploma program at his high school. Luke has always been passionate about math, and it has always been his favorite subject in school. Luke is on his high school’s varsity lacrosse team and is also a member of the National Honors Society. Luke loves Mathnasium and the ability it gives him to share his love of math with others. Some of Luke’s hobbies include playing lacrosse, going to the beach, playing video games, and watching sports.
