Meet the Team at Mathnasium of Tallahassee

Mathnasium of Tallahassee is a neighborhood math-only learning center that uses best practices to teach children math the way that makes sense to them. Our goal is to build students’ confidence and self-esteem in math. My first love is teaching. Fourteen years in the classroom, teaching grades kindergarten through 8th grade, has provided valuable insight into best practices for teaching mathematics to meet the specific needs of each student’s learning style. During my six years as a Math Content Specialist for Harcourt School Publishers, I was the program lead for Harcourt’s Professional Development in Math series. My Background: - 14 years teaching K - 8 in Volusia, Orange and Leon counties - 6 years Math Content Specialist for Harcourt School Publishers - Lead producer for Harcourt's Professional Development in Math series. - Involved in lesson development and a 12-city nationwide tour that instructed teachers on using best practices to teach mathematics. - Created content for the Harcourt Math Program used in Leon County Schools.

As a strategy facilitator, brand builder and marketing technologist, I have more than 20 years of business experience. Through the years, I’ve seen first-hand how data science and analytics have changed how businesses are run, how they reach their customers and how customers engage with businesses. And it all has its roots in MATH. Early on as a marketing professional, my work revolved around creativity. But as we became more sophisticated in our efforts, and the subjective nature of marketing evolved into a data driven science, my math skills were constantly coming into play. Whether it’s evaluating budget spend vs. return on investment, search traffic generated vs. conversion rates or app downloads vs. sales completed … it all requires a solid math foundation for evaluation and success. With Mathnasium of Tallahassee – The Math Learning Center – I am given the opportunity to put my affinity for data, statistics, and math front and center with students in our area.

The Mathnasium of Tallahassee Instructor Team

The Mathnasium of Tallahassee math instructor team is passionate about math education and math tutoring. Our passion to inspire children, fused with our knowledge of math, creates extraordinary experiences for our students. We make math make sense. We make math fun! The process to become a member of the Mathnasium of Tallahassee instructor team includes: All of our math instructors go through an extensive interview process which includes an evaluation of their ability to work with students. It's one thing to be knowledgeable in math, but we ensure our instructors have the ability to breakdown and teach math to students in elementary, middle and high school. After successfully completing the interview, instructors must then pass a math test to validate their math resume. Before officially being hired, Mathnasium of Tallahassee instructors go through a background check. Upon joining the team, our math instructors go through an extensive training process that includes understanding the Mathnasium Method, best practices in math education, techniques for successful math tutoring, and proven strategies for working with students of different abilities to create a personalized math tutoring session. Whether the student is advanced and gifted, on level and needs help staying there, or needs help catching up, our instructors are trained to ensure children have a successful productive experience at Mathnasium of Tallahassee. Our instructor team is made up of individuals who are currently studying at Florida State University, Florida A&M, recent college graduates and professionals who are seeking to share their love of math and spend time after their full-time jobs working with students at Mathnasium of Tallahassee.
