Our Team of Math Instructors

Larry Martinek, Creator of the Mathnasium Method, Chief Instructional Officer, Developer of Mathnasium Program

Larry has spent his entire career finding a better way to teach math. From inner-city public schools to acclaimed magnetLarry Martinek, Creator of the Mathnasium Method schools, to leading private and parochial schools, Larry has served as both a classroom teacher and as an educational consultant. He has designed curriculum, teaching strategies, and teaching materials to help students and teachers learn math more effectively. He has trained teachers in the art and science of boosting students' ability to “do” math, thereby increasing students' math scores and feeling of self-worth. Larry is the developer of Mathnasium’s educational program – one of the most comprehensive and innovative curricula ever produced for teaching math.
While Larry is not an Instructor at our Center, he is a valuable asset we can call on to ask about specific students' scenarios for guidance and advice. This has helped to make visits more productive and enjoyable for many of our students.

James Sullivan, Lead Instructor

James has been a math tutor for Mathnasium for over two years now. It's a funny story of how his journey with Mathnasium began. He had recently moved to Washington D.C. and decided to head over to a Popeyes for lunch one day. While in line, James had noticed a man wearing a shirt with the   “Mathnasium”  logo written on it and decided to spark up a conversation about it.

James Sullivan, Lead Instructor Long story short, they chatted a bit, and he informed James that he owned a   Mathnasium center, and now, two years later James is still going strong with   Mathnasium. Prior to tutoring, James was a student at UC Merced studying biology
and plans on continuing to study molecular biology at UC Santa Cruz. He really enjoys   academics and finds algebra to be the most interesting of math fields to study and   teach to others. Beyond study life, He enjoys running and staying active as much as   possible. In the near future, James is hoping to start med school and eventually pursue   a residency in psychiatry.

Ramona Eshagh, Center Director

Ramona started her career in Silicon Valley for Internet/Startup companies in marketing. After relocating to the central valley to raise her family, Ramona continued to work in various marketing positions within the nonprofit sector. In early 2015, Ramona and her husband realized that STEM/Math programs were not readily available to children in the central valley.

With the desire to provide kids with these opportunities, Ramona worked as the director for STEM Learning, specializing in providing STEM-based education to kids in Turlock. Seeing the success and excitement from the STEM programs, Ramona wanted to provide children the opportunity of learning Math in a fun environment. Having struggled with math as a child, Ramona is enthusiastic about helping every child in the Stanislaus/Turlock community to truly understand math by teaching it in a way that makes sense to them.

Married with 2 boys, Ramona is also involved with the Cub Scouts and BSA.
