Brian Kaye, Center Director
Brian earned his Bachelor's degree from California State University Northridge. Brian understands what it means to struggle with math because he used to struggle with math too, and he had to work very hard at it, eventually taking calculus in college. He is happy he now has the opportunity to help kids of all levels to grasp mathmatical concepts that they find new or difficult by approaching math in creative ways. Learning has always been fun for Brian even though it wasn't always easy, he hopes he can spread that joy for learning and help show how good and rewarding it feels to challenge your mind.
Allison Achilles, Lead Instructor
Allison is currently majoring in mathematics at The Master's College. She has worked as a private math tutor during high school and as an Educational Assistant at the Boys and Girls Club. Some of her hobbies include reading, playing the flute, and hanging out with friends. On the weekends, you can find her supporting the Valencia High School Marching Band. In the future, she hopes to use her math degree to become an Aerospace Engineer. Allison used to struggle with math herself but some great math teachers inspired her to succeed. She strives to be like those great teachers and inspire the kids at Mathnasium.
Jennifer Buettner, Instructor
Jennifer is studying at the College of the Canyons. She is double majoring in mathematics and computer science. She hopes to transfer to the University of California Los Angeles. In the future, she wants to use her math degree to work for the United States Department of Defense. Her dream is to obtain a PhD in mathematics. In her free time, she enjoys reading.
Blayke LaRue, Instructor
Blayke is majoring in Computer Science at College of The Canyon. He has a talent for math and enjoys teaching young minds, and is especially delighted when he can help them “take their math skills to the next level.” Blayke loves drawing, animating, and developing websites, with a real passion for virtual reality. Someday he hopes to leverage technology to connect people and to help them empathize with others coming from many diverse backgrounds.
Elise Lueck, Instructor
Elise is studying at College of The Canyons with a major in Biomedical Engineering. She enjoys math and wants to help others to undertand math so they can enjoy it too. Elise performs as Elsa at Disney Princess birthday parties for children on the wekends and she also enjoys listening to music.
Clarissa Nassar, Instructor
Clarissa is majoring in Biochemestry at California State University Northridge. She hopes to become a researcher in the field of genetic based diseases. Clarissa has a passion for math and wants to help others learn to like then love, and develope a passion for it too. In her free time Clarissa likes to cook and watch movies.
Qing Yin, Instructor
At Mathnasium, Qing is known by his last name Yin. He is currently a College of the Canyons student majoring in mathematics and computer science. He has worked as a private tutor during high school and has always enjoyed using his abilities to help others. In his free time Yin enjoys writing, being with friends and just experiencing life by meeting new people. In the future he hopes to become a pioneer in some exciting new field of technology and to help people everywhere live better. Yin greatly enjoys learning new things and believes that teaching is another step in the learning process.
Adam Bender, Community Relationships Coordinator
Adam earned his Bachelor's degree in Business and Communication from the University of Southern California and is a proud Trojan. Adam is thankful that his longtime passion for working with kids and the community is now intertwined with his career. He grew up giving back to his community by coaching basketball at the Boys & Girls Club, working with underprivileged youth in South Los Angeles, volunteering with the Special Olympics, and tutoring his high school peers. Adam was the Center Director at Mathnasium of North Santa Clarita for its opening year, where he worked to make the Center an integral part of the community, and he is now applying that experience to several centers. Adam believes there is no greater reward than helping kids learn, thrive and feel confident in their abilities and is very excited about introducing mathnasium to a wider audience to help more children understand math and see their confidence reach its fullest potential.
